About BMD

BMD is Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business. As the largest privately owned civil contractor in Australia, BMD is at the forefront of excellence, with a growing international footprint extending to the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

Driven by a purpose of powering futures and creating enduring legacies, we deliver complex infrastructure solutions that connect and transform communities. For over 45 years, our diverse portfolio of projects and roles provides exceptional opportunities for our people to grow and make a lasting impact. As part of our team, you’ll help deliver challenging projects, supported by leadership within an inclusive people-first culture.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team on the Port Hedland Dampier Salt Concentrator Repair Upgrade Project. This is a pivotal role overseeing a critical civil works package, with a strong focus on earthworks. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in earthworks delivery and lead engineering efforts to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality outcomes in a remote environment.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive project success through technical leadership and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of a major earthworks package from planning through to completion.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to project and construction teams.
  • Drive safety, quality and productivity outcomes across your work area.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve project risks, constructability challenges and delivery constraints.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Graduates.
  • Contribute to commercial performance through effective planning, cost control and value engineering.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex earthworks scopes on major projects.
  • Leadership capability and the confidence to make decisions that drive project performance.
  • Strong technical knowledge combined with practical construction experience.
  • Ability to mentor and develop emerging engineers.
  • Commercial awareness and a focus on achieving successful project outcomes.
  • A collaborative approach aligned with BMD's values and culture.

Benefits

We believe our people do their best work when they feel supported, personally and professionally. That’s why we offer benefits that go beyond the basics:

  • grow your career with specialised learning and development programs
  • be recognised at our annual employee awards event and through our Thrive reward and recognition platform
  • prioritise wellbeing with mental health support and discounted gym access
  • support your family with paid parental leave for primary and secondary carers and flexible work arrangements available
  • access perks with novated leasing, specialised Power Perks and discounts with hundreds of retailers.

Diversity and inclusion

We recognise that we are strengthened by diversity, and we embrace differences as an equal opportunity employer providing a flexible and inclusive workplace.

So, join our team, be yourself and help us power futures and create legacies.

We’re a purpose and values-led business guided by our values of family, empowered, collaborative and driven. For further details on what makes BMD unique, head to https://www.bmdgroup.global/careers
