About the role

Senior Product Quality Engineer (P3) - Rev B 10/09/2026

About Epirus

Epirus is a high-growth technology company developing software-defined high-power microwave (HPM) systems with devastating counter-electronics effects on modern drone threats. The Epirus Leonidas HPM family of products, empowered by innovations in AI and microelectronics, is human safe and cost-effective. Distinguishing itself from lasers, Leonidas excels against drone swarms while also bending the cost curve back in DoD's favor - taking drone defeat costs from millions of dollars per drone to pennies on the dollar.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Product Quality Engineer to join our innovative, fast-growing defense technology company. This role focuses on our Small and Medium System product lines and requires an agile, collaborative, hands-on professional with experience in assembly, integration, and test of complex electromechanical systems.

You will serve as a key quality partner throughout the product lifecycle, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management teams to deliver robust, reliable, and mission-ready products that meet the demanding requirements of defense applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support quality planning and execution throughout the Product Development Process, from design throughout production and field deployment, applying advanced quality mechanisms (DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans).
  • Implement quality strategies for inspection, assembly, integration, and test operations for small and medium complex systems.
  • Support quality gates and approval processes to ensure readiness at each phase transition.
  • Support Design for Quality (DfQ) principles across engineering teams and share lessons learned across products and programs.
  • Monitor quality and reliability KPIs for product and process performance and develop metrics to analyze trends and drive quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering to define critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and key product parameters and develop variation monitoring plans.
  • Participate in failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action systems (FRACAS).
  • Lead nonconformance management, root cause analysis and corrective actions for assembly and integration issues.
  • Manage field quality issues, including failure investigations, customer/program communication, and timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to drive system wide quality initiatives to meet quality and reliability objectives.
  • Support and lead product qualification, first article inspection (FAI), and verification/validation efforts with test engineering.
  • Foster a culture of proactive quality ownership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering for complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to solve quality issues and drive continual improvement.
  • Familiarity with system integration and test for complex applications.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, failure analysis, reliability testing, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and transitioning products from development to production.
  • Knowledge of quality management system standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar).
  • Knowledge of quality tools and principles using APQP framework (DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, etc.).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive improvements in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Auditor, or Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Understanding of electronics, complex assemblies, system integration, and test.
  • Experience developing and implementing APQP mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, environmental/qualification testing, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar) for KPI tracking and reporting.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP and Quality Management System (QMS) software

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
