About the role

Why Harvey

At Harvey, we’re transforming how legal and professional services operate. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come.

This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. We have strong product-market fit and world-class investor support. We’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched.

Our team moves fast, takes ownership, and is deeply committed to the mission — operating with intensity, staying close to our customers, and pushing each other for excellence. We live by three values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished. We act quickly on clear judgment over perfect information, we believe simplicity is what scales, and we're never satisfied with where we are. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who share that drive, we'd love to build with you.

At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst to own the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll operations for assigned entities. This role will manage the end-to-end payroll calendar, review payroll inputs and calculations, coordinate with payroll partners and internal stakeholders, and maintain strong controls over payroll, taxes, statutory obligations, and employee data.

You will be a trusted partner to People, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and external payroll providers. The ideal candidate combines strong international payroll expertise with a control-minded approach, excellent judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing, international company.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end payroll processes for assigned entities, from input collection through review, approval, funding, payment, and post-payroll reconciliation.
  • Review payroll calculations across assigned entities for earnings, deductions, taxes, statutory benefits, employee changes, new hires, terminations, leave, bonuses, commissions, and other variable pay.
  • Ensure payroll processing aligns with applicable country and local requirements, including statutory filings, returns, remittances, payments, reporting, and year-end obligations.
  • Maintain a clear payroll calendar and control timetable covering data cutoffs, provider deadlines, review cycles, approvals and funding.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers, and other payroll vendors; monitor service levels, deliverables, accuracy, deadlines, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with People, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and other stakeholders to coordinate payroll inputs, manage dependencies, communicate risks, and resolve issues on time.
  • Support entity-specific statutory and year-end processes, including tax filings and returns, social-security and other statutory submissions, statutory benefits, tax reconciliations, and required reporting.
  • Prepare payroll reporting and insights for leadership, including headcount, gross-to-net movements, employer costs, statutory liabilities, material variances, vendor performance, and others.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize, simplify, automate, and scale payroll processes across entities.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions clearly and confidentially, escalating sensitive or complex issues appropriately.
  • Continuously improve payroll data quality, controls, vendor performance, automation, and the employee experience as Harvey scales.

What You Have

  • 5+ years of hands-on multi-country payroll processing experience, ideally covering the full payroll lifecycle in an in-house, shared-services, or payroll-provider environment, with strong Mexico payroll exposure.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll, tax, social-security, and employment-related requirements, with the ability to apply entity-specific rules and requirements.
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, general-ledger interfaces, bank files, funding controls, and audit support.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including the ability to analyze large data sets, build reliable reconciliation checks, and use Google Sheets scripts or other automation tools to improve payroll processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for confidentiality, data accuracy, documentation, and process controls.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and deadlines, and communicate risks early.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with People, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and external vendors.
  • Experience supporting payroll providers; experience with Deel is a plus.
  • Experience with Workday or comparable HRIS/payroll systems is a strong advantage.
