About the role

About the roles

Patrol Officers contribute to the safety, security and effective operation of Government House and support the Office of the Governor in delivering its official and operational responsibilities.

Working within a small operational team, these positions require professionalism, sound judgement, discretion and the ability to respond calmly and appropriately to changing operational circumstances.

We recognise that the Senior Patrol Officer and Patrol Officer roles have several responsibilities and capabilities in common. To make the recruitment process straightforward for applicants, we are recruiting for these opportunities through one coordinated selection process.

We are looking for people who can demonstrate relevant operational experience and who understand the importance of providing a professional and responsive service. Relevant experience may have been gained in security, protective services, policing, defence, emergency services or another operational environment.

Who we are looking for

We are interested in applicants who can demonstrate:

  • relevant experience in a security, protective services or other operational environment
  • sound judgement and the ability to respond appropriately to changing or unexpected situations
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of people
  • a strong awareness of safety, security and operational risks
  • the ability to work effectively as part of a small team
  • professionalism, discretion and reliability
  • adaptability and the ability to work within an operational environment where requirements and priorities may change.

How the recruitment process will work

When you apply through Smart Jobs, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire.

This will tell us:

  • whether you would like to be considered for the Senior Patrol Officer, Patrol Officer or both
  • whether you are interested in permanent, temporary and/or casual employment
  • about your experience working within an operational and professional environment.

You do not need to submit separate applications if you are interested in more than one of the advertised opportunities.

If you have applied for the Senior Patrol Officer position, the assessment will include additional questions or activities relevant to the requirements of the Senior Patrol Officer level. This means that an applicant who chooses to be considered for both positions can be assessed for both through the same overall recruitment process.

Following assessment, applicants will be considered for the position or employment arrangements they have nominated and for which they have demonstrated suitability.

How to apply

To be considered, please submit:

  1. Your current resume, outlining your employment history, relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
  2. Responses to the Questionnaire in Smart Jobs.

Apply via SmartJobs by the deadline.

Further information about Office of the Governor and these opportunities, please contact Ty Beale on (07) 3858 5752.

The Office of the Governor is looking for the best suited applicant for this role. We will do this by assessing your eligibility and your ability to undertake the requirements of the role (including, where relevant, the way you have conducted previous positions).

Should you require any additional support and/or reasonable adjustments during our recruitment process, please contact the hiring manager listed to discuss your requirements.
