Job Description

Shield AI is seeking a Material Planner to manage material requirements planning (MRP), with a focus on ad hoc independent demand loaded into the ERP system. This role will validate material requests, maintain accurate requirements, and coordinate with requestors and Supply Chain to support material availability.

The Material Planner will manage requests from submission through fulfillment or cancellation, ensuring demand remains accurate and does not create duplicate purchasing requirements or unnecessary inventory.

What you'll do

  • Review ad hoc material requests for correct part numbers, quantities, need dates, program references, and approvals.
  • Check for existing demand, inventory, and open supply before loading new requirements.
  • Load approved independent demand into the ERP system and maintain traceability to the original request.
  • Update or cancel requirements as needs change.
  • Review related MRP outputs and resolve inaccurate or duplicate planning signals.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Inventory Control, Engineering, and program teams to address shortages and communicate material status.
  • Reconcile fulfilled requests and remove stale or canceled demand.
  • Maintain simple reporting and improve demand intake and tracking processes.

Required qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in material planning, supply chain, or inventory management.
  • Hands-on ERP experience and a working understanding of MRP.
  • Ability to review demand, inventory, and open orders to identify discrepancies.
  • Strong Excel, organization, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple changing requests.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or complex hardware manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting engineering, prototype, or test material requirements.
  • Familiarity with bills of material, revision control, and engineering changes.
  • ASCM CPIM certification or related training.
