About the role

Careem is building the Everything App for the greater Middle East — making it easy to move around, order food and groceries, manage payments, and more. Our purpose is simple: to simplify and improve people’s lives and build an awesome organisation that inspires.

Since 2012, Careem has enabled earnings for over 2.5 million Captains, simplified the lives of more than 70 million customers, and built a platform where the region’s best talent and entrepreneurs thrive. We operate in 70+ cities across 10 countries, from Morocco to Pakistan.

We’re now entering our next chapter — one powered by AI. We’re looking for AI talent: curious problem-solvers who know how to apply AI to build tools, automate workflows, and create real impact. Whether it’s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experience, or reimagining internal systems — we want people who can make Careem work smarter and move faster.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our organization's network, server, voice, and end-user management infrastructure across offices and the data center. This role requires deep technical expertise across networking, virtualization, voice systems, cloud identity/device management, infrastructure security, and AI-driven automation, combined with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

What you'll do

Networking & Connectivity

  • Design, configure, and manage office networks using Cisco Meraki (switches, wireless access points, security appliances, and dashboard administration).
  • Manage MPLS network connections and WAN links across all office and data center locations, ensuring optimal performance and redundancy.
  • Deploy and maintain Peplink SD-WAN/failover solutions for both offices and the data center.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues, latency, and connectivity outages across the WAN/LAN environment.

Data Center & Virtualization

  • Administer and maintain data center server clusters, ensuring high availability, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Manage VMware virtualization environments (vSphere/vCenter, ESXi hosts, resource pools, snapshots, and migrations).
  • Own backup and recovery processes, including backup scheduling, disaster recovery testing, and restoration procedures.

Voice & Contact Center

  • Configure and support Voice Gateways (SIP/PRI) and telephony infrastructure.
  • Maintain and optimize Contact Center Infrastructure, ensuring uptime and quality of service for customer-facing voice operations.

Endpoint & Identity Management

  • Administer MDM platforms including JumpCloud,, Microsoft, and Apple Business Manager for device provisioning, policy enforcement, and compliance.
  • Manage Zscaler for secure internet access, zero-trust policies, and traffic inspection.
  • Administer Google Workspace (user provisioning, security settings, groups, and org-wide policies).

Client Engineering & Systems Integration

  • Own client engineering initiatives, including endpoint standardization, imaging, and lifecycle management for Windows and Mac fleets.
  • Implement and maintain Single Sign-On (SSO) across business applications, ensuring secure and seamless authentication.
  • Design and manage API-based integrations between internal and third-party systems to streamline workflows and data flow.
  • Lead integration of systems across IT tools (identity, MDM, ticketing, collaboration, and security platforms) to improve automation and visibility.
  • Own patch management for Windows and Mac endpoints and servers, ensuring timely deployment of security and OS updates.

AI & Automation

  • Identify and implement AI-driven automation opportunities across IT operations (e.g., ticket triage, alerting, reporting, and routine maintenance tasks).
  • Build scripts and automation workflows to reduce manual effort in provisioning, monitoring, and patching.
  • Evaluate and integrate AI-powered IT tools (chatbots, monitoring/anomaly detection, self-service support) to improve efficiency and end-user experience.
  • Stay current with emerging AI and automation trends relevant to IT infrastructure and recommend adoption where valuable.

IT Service Management

  • Apply ITIL foundation principles across incident, problem, change, and request management processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of IT service delivery through structured ITSM practices and documented workflows.

Security, Domains & Licensing

  • Manage domain registrations and SSL certificates, ensuring timely renewals and proper configuration.
  • Oversee software and infrastructure license management, tracking renewals, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Implement infrastructure security best practices across network, endpoint, and server layers.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, SOPs, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, applications, support) on infrastructure projects and incident resolution.
  • Provide clear, timely communication to stakeholders during outages, maintenance windows, and project rollouts.

What you need

  • Proven hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki network administration (switches, wireless, security appliances).
  • Strong experience managing data center server clusters and VMware virtualization environments.
  • Experience deploying and supporting Peplink devices across offices and data centers.
  • Solid understanding of Voice Gateway technologies (SIP/PRI) and telephony troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of MPLS networks and WAN link management.
  • Experience with MDM tools: JumpCloud, Zscaler, Microsoft Autopilot, and Apple Business Manager.
  • Practical experience with backup and recovery solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience supporting Contact Center infrastructure.
  • Administration experience with Google Workspace.
  • Understanding of domain management and SSL certificate lifecycle.
  • Familiar with Zscaler for secure web gateway/zero-trust access.
  • Experience with IT license management and vendor/asset tracking.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL foundation principles (incident, problem, change, and request management).
  • Hands-on client engineering experience, including endpoint standardization and lifecycle management.
  • Experience handling SSO (Single Sign-On) solutions across business applications.
  • Experience with API-based integrations and integration of systems across IT platforms.
  • Experience managing patch management processes for Windows and Mac endpoints and servers.
  • Practical experience with AI and automation tools to streamline IT operations (scripting, workflow automation, AI-powered monitoring/support tools).
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting/automation language (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
