About the role

We’re a fast-paced retail company with a sharp eye for growth, great customer experience, and data-driven decision making. Our stores (and online presence) are thriving, and we’re looking for a detail-driven Senior Inventory Accountant to help account for our inventory.

The Senior Inventory Accountant is the backbone of our inventory financial operations — ensuring accuracy in inventory valuation, COGS, stock ledger integrity, and reporting. You’ll work closely with the merchandising, logistics, IT, and finance teams to keep inventory accurate and the business running smoothly and profitably.

This position will require being onsite at our City of Industry, CA office three (3) days a week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare month-end journal entries such as domestic/international freight, material allowances, inventory shrink reserves, accruals, reclasses and amortizations in compliance with company policies and GAAP
  • Prepare month-end account reconciliations
  • Provide insightful inventory and COGS variance analyses, analyzing forecast and prior year trends
  • Research and resolve all stock ledger and inventory discrepancies by coordinating with IT, warehouse, and other system owners
  • Perform quarterly audits of e-comm orders in local stores
  • Assist in the reconciliation and reporting of the semi-annual physical inventory for the stores, DCs and Internet, through activities such as researching discrepancies, following up with the cross-functional partners, and reporting results
  • Collaborate with external and internal auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance for areas of responsibility
  • Continuously improve processes to make inventory accounting faster, smarter, and cleaner
  • Support other inventory team members during peak periods
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and reporting, as needed

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of inventory or cost accounting experience (retail or wholesale industry experience preferred)
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls for related areas
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Oracle Fusion preferred)
  • Working knowledge of stock ledger and reconciling to GL (Oracle Retail Management experience a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets; AI experience a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, shift gears comfortably with change, and maintains composure under pressure.
  • Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues
  • A curious and critical mindset, able to challenge the status quo
  • A genuine passion for retail and the ever-evolving customer landscape

Please note the pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting, but other factors such as an individual’s education, location, meeting the minimum job requirements for the role, training and experience, will determine the final salary for potential new hires. At this time, we are not able to support new employment-based visa sponsorships due to current business needs and resource limitations. Should our sponsorship capabilities change in the future, we will update our process accordingly.
