Senior Frontend Engineer, Portfolio

The Portfolio team within the Consumer & Business group owns how millions of Coinbase users understand what they hold and how it's performing. We build the balances, holdings, and profit-and-loss experiences at the core of the Coinbase app and website, the surfaces users open first, check most often, and trust most. As a Senior Frontend Engineer on Portfolio, you'll turn complex, real-time financial data into clarity for every kind of Coinbase user, from first-time buyers to sophisticated traders.

What you'll do

  • Own the design and delivery of core Portfolio experiences including balances, holdings, and PnL across web (React/TypeScript) and native mobile (iOS and Android)
  • Build performant, accessible, pixel-accurate UI that renders real-time financial data at Coinbase scale
  • Partner with backend, design, and product to take ambiguous problems from scoping through production rollout
  • Drive frontend architecture and quality including component reuse, state management, testing, and performance instrumentation
  • Strengthen the team's engineering bar through rigorous code reviews, technical mentorship, and well-documented architecture decisions

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of frontend engineering experience building consumer-facing web applications with high-quality, well-tested production code
  • Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, with strong command of modern frontend fundamentals (state management, rendering performance, accessibility)
  • Track record shipping and owning complex features end-to-end in production, ideally in financial, trading, or other data-intensive applications where accuracy and latency matter
  • Demonstrated experience building real-time or high-throughput UIs and integrating with backend APIs (REST/GraphQL), with consistent collaboration alongside design and product partners to shape product outcomes
  • Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
