About the role

About the Role

Are you energized by turning data into strategy, building reporting that executive leadership relies on, and shaping decisions at the highest levels of a growing public company? This role pairs the foundations of FP&A (month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation) with forward-looking analysis that helps R&D and the broader company determine where to invest and how to scale. You'll be a key contributor to Strategic Finance, trusted partner to business leaders, a thought partner on high-visibility strategic work, and a key contributor to the consolidation and corporate forecasting that tell the story of the whole company.

Why Hinge Health? We're revolutionizing how healthcare gets done, and our B2B2C model gives you a front-row seat to big challenges and even bigger opportunities. As a public company, we operate with rigor and urgency, and your insight will be central to how we keep growing efficiently.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with R&D: Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for R&D. Work with functional leaders to understand what's driving spend and translate it into clear, decision-ready insights.
  • Drive Strategic Analysis: Support and advise on our most important strategic questions around R&D, hardware and AI evolution, including unit economics, return on investment, and how we deploy capital across new and existing product lines. Build models that reveal data trends; turning ambiguity into recommendations.
  • Infrastructure Optimization: Translate complex software contract terms into clear financial forecasts collaborating cross-functionally with Procurement and Accounting teams to ensure comprehensive, accurate financial reporting and also, delivering on the forward-looking infrastructure ROI framework.
  • Lead the financial evaluation of new business verticals and the creation of business cases to justify strategic projects, ensuring alignment with company growth goals
  • Consolidation and Corporate Forecasting: Support the team's financial consolidation, corporate forecast, systems, and reporting work, and serve as a supporting partner during peak periods like quarter-end close, budget, and re-forecast. Work closely with Accounting to ensure accurate, timely data flow and tie-out between the actuals and the forecast.
  • Reinvent Reporting: Automate and improve the reports and dashboards leadership depends on, and help keep our planning and consolidation systems (e.g., Adaptive) running smoothly and continuously improving.
  • Lead with AI: Use AI to supercharge our financial analytics, dashboard reporting and workflows, and bring fresh ideas for making the team faster and sharper.
  • Challenge the Status Quo: Don't just crunch numbers. Question the process, think boldly, and help turn financial analysis into action.
  • Collaborate and Conquer: We value people who are low-ego, solution-oriented, and energized by partnering across teams.
  • Own Your Impact: You'll have real autonomy and responsibility. We'll trust you to lead workstreams and deliver results, even with lean resources.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic finance, equity research, investment banking, business operations, or a related analytical role, ideally with some time in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and advise on strategic investments and business cases using and building analyses around ROI, unit economics, and margin or cash flow impact
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences and to influence senior stakeholders
  • Strong command of corporate finance principles, with experience in monthly close, budget versus actual analysis, financial modeling, and sensitivity and scenario analysis
  • Solid business acumen; with prior experience working in a high-scaling software or healthcare company
  • Ability to navigate complex business decisions through excellent stakeholder management and seamless cross-functional collaboration
  • Familiarity with financial planning and consolidation systems (e.g., Adaptive, Workday)
  • Advanced AI proficiency with tools such as Claude, Open AI and Glean, and financial modeling skills in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious, and comfortable working through ambiguity independently
  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area and excited to be in the office three days per week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with R&D, engineering, product, or other functional organizations, especially in high-growth tech, healthcare, software or hardware businesses
  • Experience with financial consolidation and corporate forecasting, or the demonstrated ability to learn them quickly
  • Solid accounting knowledge (how the three financial statements connect, the close process, GAAP vs. non-GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience administering or building in Adaptive or a similar planning tool
  • Experience with Mode Analytics and SQL
  • Passion for using AI to improve team efficiency
  • High interpersonal intelligence, including strong listening skills and the potential to influence
