About the role

Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Columbus, Ohio (Hybrid)

Employment type: Full-time

Develop coordinated electrical construction packages for pharmaceutical and food & beverage manufacturing projects. Connect facility power distribution, lighting and lightning protection with the needs of process equipment, utilities and HVAC systems. Coordinate equipment interfaces, physical network cabling, pathways and connection schedules with process, mechanical and controls teams from design through installation and commissioning.

What you will deliver

  • Lead electrical design and prepare coordinated bid and construction packages, including calculations, drawings, equipment specifications, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Develop and maintain process-equipment, utility and HVAC load lists; coordinate vendor data, power requirements, equipment interfaces and electrical connection information.
  • Design facility power distribution and lighting; size and specify conductors, overcurrent protection, switchgear and associated equipment. Address backup power, grounding and lightning protection within the assigned project scope.
  • Coordinate physical network and equipment connections with controls engineers and vendors, including cabling, pathways and connection schedules.
  • Coordinate fire-alarm, lighting-control, security and access-control interfaces with the responsible project disciplines and vendors.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide electrical support during installation, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning.
  • Plan design and construction activities, coordinate clients and suppliers, review deliverables and mentor project team members.
  • Develop and coordinate AutoCAD/Revit construction deliverables with the project team. Apply NEC, IBC and other applicable project codes and standards, including NFPA 101, ASHRAE and IECC requirements where relevant to the assigned scope.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • At least 4 years of electrical power-system design experience in manufacturing or consulting environments, as a designer or design engineer.
  • Experience managing electrical design tasks and producing coordinated construction and bid packages, including client coordination, equipment specifications and cost estimates.
  • Working knowledge of facility electrical distribution, conductor and protection selection, lighting design and equipment connections; familiarity with LV/MV distribution equipment.
  • Ability to translate process-equipment, utility and HVAC requirements into coordinated load lists, electrical designs and equipment connection information.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IBC and other codes relevant to the project; ability to coordinate relevant building-service and signaling/security interfaces.
  • Ability to plan schedules and estimate costs using project-planning tools such as MS Project; strong organization, communication and project-team leadership.

Preferred experience

  • EIT certification preferred. PE licensure is optional and a plus.
  • Experience with ETAP or SKM.
  • Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit is highly desirable; the role includes engineering development, review and coordination of those deliverables.

Hybrid work and project travel

This is an office-based hybrid role with remote work and client-site coordination. Office attendance is coordinated with the project team. Travel is anticipated to be 10–20% for manufacturing-site surveys and meetings.

The salary for this position is between $80,000-$130,000, contingent upon the candidate’s experience and demonstrated technical proficiency.
