About the role

About us

Everyone deserves a healthy, happy smile! We provide a range of free dental services to eligible people living in Central Queensland. Our friendly team cares for adults at community dental clinics and helps keep little smiles shining through our mobile dental vans and school clinics.

We're here to make dental care more accessible and help our community smile with confidence.

About the role

  • Maintain high standards of safety and compliance. Ensure the Central Sterilising Department (CSD) operates in accordance with AS 5369, relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Maintain standard operating procedures, coordinate waterline testing, and oversee infection control, sterilisation processes and equipment quality assurance.
  • Support team development and continuous improvement. Provide constructive feedback, educate and support dental assistants, implement process improvements in consultation with senior leadership, and foster collaborative working relationships across multidisciplinary teams to promote safe, high-quality service delivery.
  • Deliver quality dental assisting and clinical support. Prepare instruments, equipment and materials for dental procedures, provide effective chairside assistance, support patient comfort and wellbeing, maintain clinical stock, and ensure equipment and clinical areas meet relevant safety and infection control standards.
  • Contribute to efficient, patient-focused services. Provide administrative support, maintain accurate records, promote oral health education, support medical emergency preparedness, and uphold ethical practice and professional standards while identifying opportunities to improve workplace systems, processes and service quality.

About you

  • You hold a Certificate III in Dental Assisting and a Certificate III in Sterilising (or equivalent). A Certificate IV in Dental Assisting would be highly regarded.
  • Bring strong written and verbal communication skills, can lead and develop a team, and work collaboratively with other leaders to deliver safe, high-quality care to the community.
  • Understand infection control requirements, AS 5369 and other relevant standards and guidelines for the safe operation of the department, and you're confident supporting change and improving workplace practices.
  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, have a sound understanding of dental terminology and clinical procedures, and are committed to supporting colleagues and delivering safe, quality dental services.
