About the role

Authentic is a tech-enabled MGA (managing general agent). We design and run insurance programs for specific kinds of businesses, like restaurants, gyms, and power producers. Brokers bring us the businesses that need coverage, and carriers back our policies. Every program runs on a platform we built ourselves, and we own every line of code behind it. Engineers and insurance experts build it side by side in New York and Dayton, Ohio. Since our founding in 2022, we’ve grown to 80+ people and been named to the 2026 CB Insights Insurtech 50.

We are looking for a Senior Claims specialist to strengthen oversight for our complex commercial liability claims. This is a new role reporting directly to our Head of Claims.

What you'll do

  • Review complex and litigated commercial claims handled by our TPA partner, assessing liability, coverage, reserves, and settlement exposure.
  • Monitor litigation developments and explain where each claim is heading, from early defense strategy through mediation and trial.
  • Evaluate claim handling and defense strategy, and flag files that aren't progressing appropriately.
  • Identify emerging exposures early and escalate them with clear, well-supported recommendations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Head of Claims, who makes final reserve and settlement decisions.
  • Work with TPA adjusters, defense counsel, brokers, and carrier partners to keep claims on track.
  • Help strengthen how we oversee claim handling across our TPA relationship.

What you'll bring

  • 6+ years of commercial claims experience, with substantial hands-on work on complex or litigated claims. We're flexible on years for candidates who can clearly demonstrate strong litigation experience.
  • Strong experience in commercial GL, bodily injury, construction defect, or other high-exposure liability claims.
  • The ability to evaluate liability, coverage, reserves, litigation strategy, and settlement exposure, and to explain where a claim is heading.
  • Experience working with defense counsel, adjusters, brokers, or carrier partners.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the confidence to review claims independently and present recommendations.
  • An active adjuster license where required.

Nice to have

  • AIC, CPCU, or an equivalent designation.
  • Legal education (a plus, not required).

Our (FTE) benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity, and role trajectory
  • Comprehensive health benefits for you and your family
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave
