About the role

What we’re building

The marine industry supports recreation, global commerce, and national defense. And yet it runs on technology that hasn't meaningfully changed in fifty years. Until now.

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry. We're rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. And we're already executing. We started with consumers to develop and harden our core technology. We’re now scaling production of our flagship model with new models and sectors on the horizon. Now we’re extending our platform to commercial applications, starting with tugs, ferries, and defense, with years worth of signed contracts and a pipeline that spans every vessel type on the water.

The technology is proven, the momentum is building, and the opportunity is enormous. The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it

Who we’re looking for

As Arc's Senior CAD Designer, you will own the CAD backbone of our vessels: the models, the drawing packages, and the standards the rest of Engineering builds against. You'll be our resident NX and Teamcenter expert, creating production-intent CAD across disciplines, releasing drawing packages a vendor can quote without a phone call, and aligning every engineering team on the same best practices and source of truth.

We're looking for someone fired up by the mission and ready to build. You'll thrive here if you move fast, take ownership, and care about the details.

What You'll Do

  • Creating production-intent CAD in NX across disciplines including solid and surface modeling, sheet metal, assembly & mechanisms, weldments, piping and plumbing routing for hull and deck structures, mechanical systems, and powertrain interfaces.
  • Checking drawings and leading workflows to release designs across Engineering
  • Owning large assemblies, the boat-level eBOM, and mass properties, with a clean, scalable assembly architecture and configuration structure
  • Releasing fully dimensioned drawing packages to manufacturing and suppliers, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and running tolerance stack-ups on critical interfaces
  • Serving as Arc's resident NX and Teamcenter expert: developing CAD standards, templates, naming conventions, revision control, and shared libraries to align all engineering teams on best practices
  • Supporting and improving our Teamcenter environment, including workflows, eBOM configuration, troubleshooting, and training engineers, and growing into administration and backend setup
  • Partnering with manufacturing and supply chain on DFM to catch problems while they're still pixels
  • Supporting prototype builds on the floor and folding what you learn back into the models

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of mechanical design and drafting, with a track record of releasing drawings to production
  • Demonstrated expertise in CAD (NX required) across multiple disciplines. SolidWorks or CATIA experience alone is not sufficient.
  • A generalist who is comfortable across disciplines, rather than a specialist in one area such as surfacing or sheet metal
  • Demonstrated Teamcenter experience, including workflows
  • Experience developing CAD standards or best practices and training other engineers
  • Strong command of GD&T per ASME Y14.5, with experience releasing parts to vendors across machining, fabrication, composites, or molding
  • Thrives with incomplete requirements and fast-changing designs
  • Communicates clearly with engineers, technicians, and suppliers, and can align multiple teams on shared standards

Bonus Qualifications

  • 10+ years of design experience
  • Teamcenter administration and backend setup experience
  • Partnering with industrial designers to turn sketches into Class A surfaces
  • Building CAD standards and PDM structure from scratch at an early-stage company
  • Marine hardware experience preferred; automotive, aerospace, or EV also relevant
  • Background in composite structures or large weldment design
  • Experience with high-voltage packaging
  • Comfortable pushing a fast but sustainable pace
  • Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy

At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You’re always welcome to reach out even if you don’t meet many of these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot.
