The brand’s name has been featured in chart-topping hit songs by Cardi B, Drake, 21 Savage, Saweetie, The Game, Tyga and Offset and its styles have been worn by many celebrities, artists and athletes including Meg The Stallion, Ice Spice, Chris Brown, Floyd Mayweather, Rick Ross, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner.

Role Overview

Under the guidance of the Category Director, you as a Senior Buyer, focused on Women's Matching Sets, will work to create the appropriate merchandise mix based on emerging trends and manage the assortment strategies established by your team leaders.

In this role, you will own one of our largest, fastest-moving, and highest-grossing categories—spanning 2-piece sets, lounge, knitwear, and co-ords. You will be responsible for managing your category product assortment, maximizing unit turn, and driving multi-million-dollar financial targets. Your expertise is essential to ensuring Fashion Nova has the absolute best, trend-setting matching set offerings for our customers at unmatched speed and value.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assortment Strategy & Category Execution

  • Drive Category Growth: Develop and execute high-velocity buying strategies to curate trend-driven product assortments specifically within Women’s Matching Sets, balancing top/bottom proportions, fabrications, and silhouettes.
  • Inventory Balance: Achieve optimal SKU counts while precisely balancing rapid-turn newness with high-volume replenishment inventory.

2. Trend Forecasting & Rapid Development

  • Spot & Scale Trends: Stay ahead of fashion trends by conducting continuous market research, monitoring runway collections, and analyzing social media/competitor movements to identify exploding co-ord trends.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Translate visual research into commercial product by working directly with our in-house production team and global supplier network to engineer high-impact newness at scale.

3. Cost Negotiation & Margin Optimization

  • Maximize Profitability: Lead aggressive pricing and FOB negotiations with suppliers to secure the lowest cost structures without compromising garment quality, fit, or hand-feel.
  • Margin Alignment: Ensure product lines hit aggressive gross margin goals, landed cost targets, and retail pricing strategies built for high volume.

4. Financial Management & Open-to-Buy (OTB)

  • Performance Tracking: Actively manage weekly sales performance, Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets, pricing strategies, and gross margin targets to hit overall revenue goals.
  • Volume Optimization: Maximize sell-through and minimize markdowns by strategically managing reorder velocity on top-performing sets while liquidating slow movers quickly.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Data Analytics

  • End-to-End Execution: Partner daily with production, replenishment, inventory planning, and creative/marketing teams to ensure fast-track production timelines, quick reorders, and high-converting product launches.
  • Data-Driven Merchandising: Utilize daily sales data, customer feedback, and conversion metrics to optimize fit, colorways, and total assortment performance.

Role Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in Apparel Buying, ideally within a fast-fashion e-commerce environment. Direct experience managing high-volume, high-turn categories is required (experience with matching sets, knits, or co-ords is a strong plus).
  • Negotiation & Vendor Relations: Proven track record of managing global vendor networks and successfully negotiating product cost, quality, lead times, and payment terms.
  • Trend Expertise: Exceptional pulse on current and emerging fashion trends, with a deep passion for the fast-fashion space and customer mindset.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical capability to interpret sales metrics, run category performance analyses, and execute data-backed buying decisions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, and retail ERP/buying management systems.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Production, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Languages: English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Schedule: Onsite | Monday – Friday (Core business hours).

BENEFITS

  • Formalized career paths for continued professional growth
  • Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Comprehensive health insurance across Medical, Dental and Vision
  • 401k match, with immediate vesting upon eligibility
  • Weekly catered lunches & fully-stock kitchen pantry!
