About the role

About the Role

Our client, an established alternative investment manager, is seeking a Senior Associate to join its private credit investment team, focused on customized lending opportunities for corporate borrowers.

The position offers exposure to complex credit investments, including asset-backed financing, structured lending, and corporate special situations. The investment strategy focuses on evaluating borrowers, structuring secured financing arrangements, and identifying opportunities with strong collateral protection and attractive risk-adjusted returns.

This is a hands-on investment role involving detailed credit analysis, financial modeling, transaction structuring, and deal execution. The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals while taking meaningful ownership of underwriting and transaction processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed credit underwriting and financial analysis of private lending and structured financing opportunities.
  • Evaluate company fundamentals, industry dynamics, financial performance, cash flows, and capital structures.
  • Build and maintain financial models covering corporate credit, asset-backed lending, collateral valuation, and investment returns.
  • Assess transaction structures, collateral coverage, covenants, and downside protection, including potential recovery scenarios.
  • Support and independently manage key aspects of transaction execution, including due diligence, structuring, and closing.
  • Participate in negotiations involving financing terms, credit documentation, and transaction protections.
  • Prepare investment recommendations, underwriting materials, and presentations for investment committee review.
  • Coordinate with borrowers, legal counsel, lenders, and other transaction counterparties.
  • Manage multiple investment opportunities and workstreams simultaneously while meeting transaction deadlines.
  • Develop relationships with banks, lenders, specialty finance firms, and other market participants to support potential investment opportunities.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in credit investing, private credit, structured lending, or related investment disciplines.
  • Experience in asset-based lending, restructuring, distressed credit, or corporate special situations preferred.
  • Strong fundamental credit analysis and underwriting capabilities, including financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and capital structure evaluation.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, with experience analyzing corporate borrowers, collateral values, and downside recovery scenarios.
  • Understanding of credit documentation, transaction structuring, covenants, and lender protections.
  • Ability to independently manage underwriting assignments and contribute meaningfully to transaction execution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using Claude or similar AI tools.
  • Strong analytical judgment, quantitative skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present investment recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative investment environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
