About the role

OPSWAT, a global leader in IT, OT, and ICS critical infrastructure cybersecurity, delivers an end-to-end platform that gives public and private sector organizations and enterprises the critical advantage needed to protect their complex networks, secure their devices, and ensure compliance. Over the last 20 years our commitment to innovative technology has earned the trust of more than 1,700 organizations, governments, and institutions globally, solidifying our role in protecting the world’s critical infrastructure and securing our way of life.

The Position

At OPSWAT, we’re on a mission to protect the world’s most critical infrastructure. As a U.S.-based cybersecurity leader, we’re expanding our R&D footprint in Hungary — and we’re looking for a Rust Backend Engineer to join our team working on one of our most strategic solutions: Proactive Data Loss Prevention (Proactive DLP).

In Veszprém, in the heart of a peaceful, friendly, historic city, we have created a modern, inspiring office environment that encourages collaboration, where friendly, direct relationships between colleagues and high-quality professional work are equally important. Using modern, innovative technologies, we work on products that truly contribute to making our world safer at one of the world’s leading cybersecurity companies.

We support professional development through training, mentoring, and real opportunities for advancement. The Veszprém office offers the perfect balance of calm and professionalism – a modern environment, friendly people, and a strong team spirit.

If you want to work in a place where your knowledge is valued and you are treated as a person, then OPSWAT Veszprém is the place for you.

If you’re interested in working as a Rust Backend Engineer at OPSWAT, please apply, and we will get in touch!

You Will Have the Opportunity to

  • Design and develop the next generation of the Proactive DLP engine in Rust
  • Migrate existing C++, C# and Python components to Rust, and maintain them until they are replaced
  • Build and orchestrate AI agents that generate, test and refactor code, and design the validation loops that keep their output correct
  • Review design specs and code, including code produced by AI agents
  • Product maintenance and implementing new versions of the product
  • Design specifications and write test cases
  • Provide inputs and documentation of new or existing features
  • Partner with your scrum team members on delivering sprint commitments
  • Work with local and remote engineering teams to deliver on quarterly goals

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong command of Rust, or strong C++ with a clear drive to move to Rust
  • Solid C++ knowledge and hands-on experience with C# and Python, the current engine stack
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and LLM-based tooling, and the mindset to direct agents and validate their output rather than code everything by hand
  • 2+ years programming experience for Linux platforms
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Expertise in multi-threaded programming and memory management
  • CI/CD experience, good skills in version control (preferably Git)
  • Experience with interop between Rust and C++, C# or Python (FFI, native hosting, embedding) is nice to have
  • Experience working in QT framework is nice to have
  • Experience with REST API utilization and SDK integration would be an asset
  • Experience with GitHub, Jira, Confluence will be preferred
  • Knowledge in the field of data science is an advantage
  • It’s good to have experience with Agile / Scrum working environment

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Stable, growing international company background with an exceptional customer group
  • Opportunity to improve your professional skills
  • The newest technology environment, including AI-native development tooling
  • Language course and opportunity for active recreation – kettlebell, football and office massage
  • Attractive working environment – nice office full of accessories (fruits every day, coffee, breakfast, tea etc.)
  • Regular team events and Happy Hour activities
