About the role

About the role

As a Registered Nurse within the Special Care Nursery (SCN) at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, you will provide contemporary, evidence-based and family-centred nursing care to newborns requiring specialised neonatal support. Working collaboratively within an interprofessional healthcare team, you will deliver high-quality care that promotes optimal health outcomes while supporting infants and their families through their healthcare journey.

You will apply your clinical expertise in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, respond effectively to changes in patient conditions, and contribute to a safe and supportive care environment. The role offers the opportunity to work within one of Queensland's leading Women's and Newborn Services, supporting specialised neonatal care, education and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care through comprehensive assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation for infants within the Special Care Nursery.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a newborn's condition using advanced clinical assessment and intervention skills.
  • Provide education and support to parents and families, promoting confidence, participation and independence in infant care.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, coordinated and consumer-focused care delivery.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by participating in education, professional development, policy implementation and quality improvement activities.

Benefits when working for us

  • Rewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Value driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance
  • Flexible working arrangements and competitive salary rates with annual incremental increases
  • Benefit from a higher than standard employer contribution to Superannuation of up to 12.75% and access to salary packaging

Metro North Health offers a dynamic and progressive environment at the forefront of healthcare, research, and education. With a strong commitment to inclusion, flexibility, and professional development, we provide meaningful opportunities in a workplace that puts people first.
