About the role

Join the Future of Robotic Biomanufacturing!

Multiply Labs is a robotics company on a mission to solve a significant bottleneck in modern medicine: the manufacturing of life-saving advanced biologics, from gene and cell therapies to antibodies and more.

Today, these therapies are produced through manual, labor-intensive processes. Costs are extremely high—often $500K–$2M per patient—limiting access to only a small fraction of those who need them.

As product complexity increases and the cost of failure and scientific labor rises, the industry is shifting toward automation. Robotics and AI are making automated biologics manufacturing feasible, reliable, and economically scalable.

We believe the future of biomanufacturing is robotic—closed, automated, and scalable—ensuring critical therapeutics are accessible to every patient who needs them.

Why This Matters

We don’t just build robots—we’re building the essential infrastructure for next generation biologics. Our technology enables biopharma companies to scale production without redesigning their science, reducing regulatory hurdles and lowering costs so these treatments can reach more patients.

The Stack & The Scale

  • The Mission: Build the world’s best robots to make life-saving therapies accessible to all.
  • The Technology: Advanced robotic orchestration, high-precision automation, cloud-integrated hardware-software systems, dextrous manipulation, and imitation learning.
  • The Location: Headquartered in San Francisco, CA.
  • The Backing: Supported by premier investors, including Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on R&D Lab & Shop Manager to lead daily operations across our prototyping lab, machine shop, and assembly areas. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design engineering and physical hardware execution, managing machine shop equipment, maintaining additive manufacturing systems, executing precision mechanical assemblies, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams on Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA).

Responsibilities

  • Lab & Shop Operations: Oversee daily lab safety, 5S organization, tool tracking, and OSHA compliance; maintain equipment calibration logs and maintenance records for ISO 13485/FDA quality standards.
  • Machining & Metal Fabrication: Operate vertical mills, saws, hand tools and other metal working equipment
  • Precision Mechanical Assembly: Build complex electro-mechanical assemblies, sub-systems, and robotic end-effectors according to technical engineering drawings, schematics, & BOMs
  • Engineering Collaboration & DFM: Partner directly with design engineers to debug fit/tolerance issues, provide DFM/DFA feedback on early prototypes
  • Logistics & Receiving: Open and organize incoming shipments, organize inventory

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a machine shop, R&D lab, or rapid prototyping environment within the robotics or medical device industry.
  • Working experience in GD&T, technical schematics, exploded diagrams, and precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators).

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Hands-on expertise in operating, maintaining, and post-processing FDM and SLA/resin printing platforms.

Nice to Haves

  • Forklift Certification a plus

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Lift 50 lbs
