About the role

Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For nearly two decades, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying AI/ML to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future.

Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning research as well as highly experienced finance and technology professionals. The people who shape our company come from other backgrounds, including concert music performances, humanitarian aid, opera singing, sports writing, and BMX racing. You will be part of a team that loves to succeed together.

In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.

As a QTL, you will lead a team of trading supervisors across multiple systematic trading desks spanning listed and OTC asset classes. Build, manage, and mentor a team of junior traders who monitor live trading and advance the trading operations platform. You will own project planning and backlog coordination within the team, plus be a key stakeholder to firm wide initiatives. This role collaborates with management, research and development, and trading counterparties.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of junior traders with the goal of grooming them into high-caliber contributors. Be a point of escalation for system or process failures
  • Design process and technology, then coordinate the implementation effort
  • Develop market microstructure expertise across regions and asset classes
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers on issues relating to production trading operations
  • Interface with external brokers or counterparties
  • Lead strategic projects as appropriate

Requirements

  • 5+ year experience in systematic trading operations and a passion for markets
  • Leadership experience
  • A process-oriented approach to trading and a zero-tolerance attitude towards error
  • A technical background in Python, capable of designing production technology
  • Demonstrable clarity of thought and high-quality communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
