BMD is Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business, with foundations built on the family values that underpin our unique, collaborative approach. Driven by a purpose of powering futures and creating enduring legacies through a commitment to collaboration, BMD is delivering infrastructure solutions that connect and transform communities. With a proud history beginning in 1979, BMD now employs 2,400 people throughout Australia, the Philippines and United Kingdom.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join our NSW team and take a key leadership role on the project. BMD, in a joint venture with Gamuda Engineering Australia, is delivering the Elizabeth Drive Upgrade and Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 2 for Transport for NSW. Located at Badgerys Creek, the $624 million project spans two key road corridors and will improve capacity, safety, travel times, network resilience and connections across Western Sydney.

Reporting into the Project Leadership Team, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and continuously improving the project's Quality Management System while ensuring compliance with client, contractual, regulatory and BMD requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and empower project quality personnel to deliver strong project outcomes
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Project Quality Management Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and assurance processes
  • Establish and manage project audit schedules, surveillance activities and quality reporting
  • Identify, investigate and resolve non-conformances, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions
  • Proactively identify quality risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, TfNSW specifications, regulatory requirements and applicable ISO standards
  • Manage quality interfaces across the client, suppliers, subcontractors and key project stakeholders
  • Provide technical quality leadership and guidance to construction delivery teams
  • Monitor and report quality performance to project and senior management
  • Build a strong culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement across the project.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Quality Manager on major road, transport or civil infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and managing project Quality Management Systems from mobilisation through delivery
  • Strong experience with Transport for NSW specifications, quality requirements and assurance processes
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification, with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 qualifications highly regarded
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence project teams, manage quality risk and drive continuous improvement

We recognise that we are strengthened by diversity, and we embrace differences as an equal opportunity employer providing a flexible and inclusive workplace.

So, join our team, be yourself and help us power futures and create legacies.
