About the role

As a QA Engineer II for the Organized Play team on VALORANT, you will operate as an experienced quality owner within your product space. You will partner closely with engineers, producers, and UI/UX developers to drive testing strategy and execution for Organized Play’s player-facing features and supporting services. You will be empowered to influence development practices and ensure quality is built into features early. You will play a key role in defect triage, risk assessment, and release readiness, while maintaining clear visibility into product quality through reporting and insights. Additionally, you may support and mentor other testers or contributors to ensure consistent and scalable test execution.

On the Organized Play team, you’ll help VALORANT players compete together and track their achievements through features like Premier and Performance Score. Your work is critical in maintaining the quality of matchmaking and competition for our highly skilled players who are attempting to reach the highest level of competitive play. You’ll work with developers and partner teams to test how the pieces fit together and catch problems before they get in the way of competition.

Responsibilities

  • Own quality outcomes for assigned systems and features, including risk assessment and release readiness
  • Lead defect triage, prioritization, and communication across disciplines
  • Design, improve, and drive test strategies and methodologies for your product space
  • Execute and/or delegate whitebox and blackbox testing, including coordination with remote testers
  • Provide continuous, actionable feedback on features, UX, and technical implementations
  • Partner with engineers and developers to push quality upstream and improve testability
  • Author and maintain test plans, ensuring comprehensive and scalable test coverage
  • Analyze and report on test coverage, defect trends, and overall product quality to stakeholders
  • Mentor less experienced testers or contributors and help elevate quality practices across the team

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years Software Quality Assurance Experience, with success leading testing efforts on a team.
  • Experience owning areas of a defect database, including triage, prioritization, and reporting
  • Experience coordinating and guiding remote or distributed testers
  • Experience working embedded within multidisciplinary Agile teams
  • Experience analyzing quality metrics and creating actionable reports on test coverage and defect data

Desired Qualifications

  • Development experience across multiple platforms (Console and PC)
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Professional experience working on first-person shooters, or extensive engagement playing them
  • Experience influencing quality practices beyond immediate team scope
  • Preferred Licenses/certifications:
  • ISTQB Foundation Level
  • ISTQB Agile Tester or ICAgile Agile Testing (ICP-TST)
  • ISTQB Expert Level
