About the role

About Us

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is a leading utility infrastructure contractor helping power communities across Canada and the United States. Built on family roots, we value safety, hard work, and getting the job done right for our clients. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to build your skills and grow your career.

Role Details

  • Location: Niagara Falls, Ontario
  • Work arrangement: Initially remote during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, with occasional site visits for training and coordination with field crews. The position is expected to transition to on-site construction support during Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) execution, based on the project schedule.
  • Employment type: Full-time, permanent, hourly.
  • Schedule: A base schedule of 40 hours per week during ECI, with overtime as required. Overtime is not guaranteed. Work schedules and site attendance requirements may change during construction.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to project sites during ECI, transitioning to regular travel to active construction sites across Ontario during EPC execution.

The Opportunity

The Project Coordinator supports Forbes Bros. Group of Companies' Major Projects division by assisting with planning, coordination, and construction activities for large-scale utility and infrastructure projects. Initially focused on Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), you will support preconstruction planning, project documentation, and coordination of deliverables before transitioning to field-based responsibilities during Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) execution.

This opportunity is well-suited for someone with construction coordination experience who enjoys working with project teams and supporting both planning and field execution. You will contribute to high-voltage transmission, utility infrastructure, associated civil works, and multidisciplinary EPC projects while working closely with construction crews, subcontractors, and project leadership to support successful project delivery.

Key Elements of the Role

  • Support preconstruction planning and project coordination during the ECI phase, including tracking project deliverables, maintaining documentation, and assisting with construction readiness.
  • Coordinate daily construction activities between crews, subcontractors, site supervision, and project management during EPC execution, ensuring alignment with project schedules and construction plans.
  • Monitor field progress, material availability, equipment requirements, and construction sequencing, identifying potential challenges and supporting timely resolution to minimize project delays.
  • Coordinate requests for information (RFIs), submittals, drawing revisions, and document control processes to ensure project teams have accurate and current construction information.
  • Assist with project mobilization, site logistics, construction readiness, and material coordination while tracking deliverables against project scope, schedules, and client requirements.
  • Support look-ahead planning, schedule updates, and progress reporting, including tracking installed quantities, productivity, and field information to assist with cost forecasting and change management.
  • Support Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements by participating in site inspections, safety meetings, audits, and hazard assessments to promote safe construction practices.
  • Assist with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) documentation, inspections, deficiency tracking, and project closeout activities to support compliance with project specifications and client requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Two to five years of field-based project coordination experience supporting heavy civil, utility, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with construction crews, subcontractors, and site supervision to coordinate activities on active construction sites.
  • Experience supporting high-voltage transmission construction, utility infrastructure, civil infrastructure, or electrical EPC projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with project and field teams.
  • Working knowledge of construction sequencing, field coordination, scheduling, and contractor management.
  • Experience with transmission line, substation, or utility infrastructure construction is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management software is preferred.
  • Experience supporting quality assurance and quality control processes, document control, and construction turnover documentation is considered an asset.
