About the role

Overview

Project Controller is the project manager’s primary partner on all things project finance. This includes developing and monitoring project schedules and budgets, tracking scope changes, and providing transparency on project performance. The Project Controller prepares cost and schedule reports, tracks cost variances, forecasts estimate-to-complete (ETC) and estimate-at-completion (EAC), and works proactively with the project team to identify cost savings and risks before they become problems. The Project Controller interfaces with all aspects of the organization to ensure comprehensive project oversight and alignment.

This is a hybrid position based in Fremont, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and monitor project work breakdown structures, schedules, and budgets
  • Track cost variances against budget and forecast estimate-to-complete (ETC) and estimate-at-completion (EAC) on a rolling basis, predicting future spend curves
  • Track, document, and communicate changes in project scope, cost, and schedule, including change order impact analysis
  • Partner with project managers and site leadership to drive budget accountability and disciplined cost management across the organization
  • Prepare and maintain project cost, schedule, and risk analysis reports
  • Develop and analyze performance metrics to track project progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Identify cost savings and risks, and support the implementation of financial risk mitigation strategies
  • Manage project invoices and ensure timely collection
  • Adhere to accounting guidelines and relevant regulations
  • Support project closeout, reconciling final costs against baseline
  • Additional duties assigned by management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting analysis, preferably with project-based experience
  • Prior experience working closely with Project Managers and managing multiple projects at a time.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system preferred (training provided)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
  • Advanced Excel skills
