About the role

About Rocket Factory Augsburg

At Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA), we have one clear goal: to create low-cost, flexible, and reliable access to space. We specialize in building small launch vehicles designed to deploy satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond. Together with you, we aim to revolutionize space services and help improve life on Earth. Sounds interesting? Then join our journey and become part of the team driving the New Space movement in Europe.

About the Team

Join a highly skilled and mission-driven team developing advanced space components and systems that support the next generation of space technology. In this role, you will be at the center of manufacturing operations, bridging engineering, production, and quality to ensure complex hardware is built efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on manufacturing professionals who enjoy solving practical challenges, improving processes directly on the shop floor, and working in an international, multidisciplinary environment. You will gain exposure to cutting-edge space technologies, production planning methodologies, and quality-driven manufacturing processes while contributing to products where precision and reliability are critical.

If you are passionate about turning engineering concepts into flight-ready hardware and thrive in a dynamic production environment, we encourage you to apply.

Your Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor manufacturing activities, including build schedules, resource allocation, and production readiness for space components and systems.
  • Ensure production readiness by verifying the availability and completeness of required manufacturing documentation, coordinating necessary updates with responsible departments, and supporting efficient production processes.
  • Support production teams on the shop floor by ensuring materials, tools, and resources are available when needed.
  • Identify production inefficiencies, analyze root causes, and implement practical process improvements to increase quality, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with internal quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to production technicians during assembly, manufacturing, and integration activities.

Your Profile

Must-Have Skills

  • Completed technical vocational training, ideally complemented by an advanced qualification as a State-Certified Technician (or equivalent technical qualification).
  • Proven experience planning, organizing, and coordinating manufacturing or production activities in a technical production environment.
  • Ability to create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, production plans, and bills of materials.
  • Strong capability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing preparation and production readiness activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, quality-focused, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Good understanding of production safety requirements and workshop practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Professional communication skills in both German (B2+) and English (B2+).
  • Strong digital literacy, including confident use of Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience working in aerospace, space, defense, high-tech manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Kaizen.
  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Experience supporting prototype, low-volume, or high-complexity production environments.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and traceability requirements.
  • Additional experience in assembly, integration, or testing of electromechanical systems.
  • Practical hands-on manufacturing knowledge, including conventional turning and milling processes.
