About the role

The Integrated Network Operations Branch plans, coordinates and operates Queensland's multi-modal transport network to support safe, efficient and reliable movement of people and goods. We prioritise network optimisation and resilience, using innovation and technology to connect Queenslanders with safe and reliable journeys.

The role

As a Principal Analyst in Network Analysis and Modelling, you'll provide specialist advice on traffic data, research and analysis to help internal stakeholders understand road network performance and asset use. This flexible, temporary part-time role is

for 12 months, working 21.75 hours per week at 61 Mary Street, Brisbane.

Some of your responsibilities will include

  • Lead traffic operations research and development projects with TMR stakeholders and partners.
  • Provide high-level professional advice and technical support on network performance analysis.
  • Manage the development and implementation of complex road operations

systems, technologies, applications, specifications and analysis. • Prepare and deliver executive advice, submissions, standards and briefs on traffic, technology and system issues.

  • Support project teams and workshops with internal and external stakeholders to implement road operations data initiatives.
  • Work closely with Program Delivery and Operations and teams across INO to improve network performance.
  • Support the Leadership Team's strategic decisions to optimise statewide road network operations and deliver branch objectives and departmental priorities.

About you

You'll bring knowledge of traffic data analysis, traffic flow theory and road performance measures, with the ability to use analytical tools or traffic modelling packages to inform decisions.

You'll have experience in road network operations, monitoring corridor performance and identifying improvements. You'll use data to investigate issues and support collaborative, well-informed decisions, recognising potential bias and information gaps.

You'll communicate complex problems and solutions clearly, build strong working relationships and gain stakeholder support for ideas and actions.

Mandatory requirements

A degree in civil or traffic engineering, data science, computer science, mathematics or an equivalent qualification, and a C class driver's licence are required.

A criminal history check will be undertaken before appointment due to access to sensitive data.

Why join us

We can offer you benefits such as:

  • work-life balance with a flexible, part-time arrangement of 21.75 hours per week
  • superannuation and leave loading benefits
  • a range of development opportunities including unlimited use of LinkedIn Learning
  • access to an Employee Assistance Service and more.

We recognise and celebrate that everyone is unique and seek the applicant best suited to the role. We will assess your experience, knowledge and acquired skills, as

well as your potential for development and your personal qualities. We strongly encourage applicants from all life experiences and backgrounds to apply.
