About the role

About LegalVision

LegalVision is a commercial law firm built for high-performing teams who want to work differently. Through our fixed-fee legal membership, we provide unlimited legal support to businesses of all sizes.

Our team uses custom-built technology to deliver fast, high-quality legal support with predictable pricing for clients, and rewarding careers for those who work here. With operations across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, LegalVision offers clear progression, exposure to complex work at scale, and the opportunity to be part of an innovative law firm recognised as a 5 Star Employer of Choice, a Top 25 Attraction Firm, and Law Firm of the Year.

The Opportunity

To support the ongoing growth of our firm, we are looking for an 8+ PQE lawyer to join our Employment team as a Practice Leader. In this high-performing practice group, you will work across a broad range of employment law matters to help clients anticipate, manage and resolve legal issues. Through our market-leading legal membership, our team supports businesses of all sizes, from small and medium-sized businesses and startups to large enterprises.

As a Practice Leader, you will gain hands-on exposure to leadership and management opportunities, and work with your team to provide technically excellent, efficient and pragmatic legal support for your clients. A collaborative ‘player-coach’ who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will be the perfect fit for this opportunity.

This is an opportunity to practice law differently - without the inflexibility, micromanagement and facetime of traditional law firms. This role offers genuine autonomy, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to shape your practice within a high-performing and engaged team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing juniors in their day to day work and providing meaningful coaching and development to your direct reports.
  • Supporting the ongoing growth of the practice.
  • Providing written and verbal advice to employers on the full range of employment law matters, including in relation to modern awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Reviewing, drafting and updating employment documents such as contracts of employment, deeds of release and policies.
  • Supporting clients and advising on recruitment, onboarding, application of their internal policies and employee terminations.
  • Managing employment litigation matters and other larger projects and briefing counsel where necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience directly managing and developing junior lawyers to foster engagement and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
  • Admitted to practise on an unrestricted basis in Australia with at least 8 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Broad experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including employment contracts, policies, and handbooks, employee relations, disciplinary and grievance processes, terminations, restructures, and redundancies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and stakeholders.
  • A solutions-oriented mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice.

The Perks

  • Gain exposure to a diverse range of clients and legal matters, and develop close relationships with your clients.
  • Build strong people management and supervision skills.
  • Enjoy flexibility, autonomy and working within an incredible team, all while building a practice and supercharging your career.
  • Meaningfully contribute to the growth and direction of LegalVision.
  • Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
  • Regular team socials, drinks and team lunches.
  • Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options.
