About the role

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

POWER PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

As a Power Projects Development Associate at SpaceXSI, you’ll support power project development at our sites, helping deliver the electrical infrastructure that keeps operations running. Working onsite in Bastrop or Starbase, TX with cross-functional teams, you’ll assist through the project lifecycle—from scoping and site development to commissioning—tracking issues and helping keep work on schedule. Expect to coordinate details, support the team, and help keep projects moving to fuel our mission of accelerating human scientific discovery through AI.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the design, installation, and commissioning of power project infrastructure, including generation, interconnection, substations, renewables and related electrical systems
  • Work closely with engineering, facilities, and project teams to align power project scope with SpaceXSI's operational needs
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to support equipment procurement, installation schedules, and compliance with SpaceXSI's technical and safety standards
  • Assist the facilities team with real estate matters for power project sites, such as identifying prospective properties, supporting lease and acquisition work, dispositions (terminations and subleases/assignments), and related site-control matters
  • Support legal, finance, and other departments on real estate and project transactions, including tracking terms and conditions, payment status, and required document and information delivery
  • Help forecast and plan for future power capacity needs to support SpaceXSI's growing initiatives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, real estate, or business
  • 6+ months of professional experience (internships and co-ops count)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Interest in real estate licensing, or a current real estate license, and willingness to acquire licenses in new states
  • Exposure to contract management or commercial documentation
  • Familiarity with power project development, including utility interconnection, substations, generation, or large electrical infrastructure
  • Coursework, internships, or experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This role is based in Bastrop or Starbase, TX, and requires being onsite at a SpaceX office; remote or hybrid work will not be considered
  • Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours or weekends when needed

ITAR REQUIREMENTS

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Learn more about the ITAR here.
