About the role
Position Summary
- Conduct research tasks under the supervision of Dr. Joodaky (e.g. data collection, modeling, simulation).
- Assist with analysis of materials and dynamics relevant to packaging.
- Support ongoing research projects; may participate in modest independent sub-projects as time allows, always aligned with supervisor direction.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment in packaging dynamics.
- Assist in preparing results for publication / presentation; coauthoring as appropriate.
- Attend the related internal and external (e.g. conferences) meetings and present the studies.
- Expected to contribute to proposal writing if appropriate.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Material Science
Minimum Requirements
- A PhD in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Aerospace Engineering (focus on solid mechanics, dynamics / vibrations).
- Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python.
- Experience in Finite Element Method modeling (Abaqus, Ansys) or similar.
- Basic familiarity with machine learning (preferred).
- Some record of research output (e.g. peer-reviewed papers, conference abstracts) or demonstrable research capability.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with packaging structures (corrugated boards, polymer foams).
- Knowledge of nonlinear dynamics, signal processing, composite mechanics, control theory and Energy Harvesting.
- Hands-on lab experience: DIC, universal testers, accelerometers, shaker tables, vibration instrumentation.
- Advanced/ deeper knowledge of machine learning.
- Some exposure to fluid mechanics or multi-physics modeling.
