About the role

Position Function

The postdoctoral research associate will contribute to an ONR sponsored research project that examines air-sea-wave processes that relate to momentum flux variability in the tropical cyclone environment. The successful candidate will conduct and analyze numerical sensitivity experiments utilizing the coupled air-ocean-wave modeling systems to verify against field observations to identify momentum exchange processes that influence tropical cyclone intensity change. The postdoc will be based at the Northern Gulf Institute at Mississippi State’s campus and have access to MSU High Performance Computing Collaboratory supercomputing servers to conduct experiments. Funding is available for 12 months with opportunity for extension. Funds for conference travel are included. Anticipated start date of June 2025 with some flexibility.

This position may be eligible for flexwork options. For more information, please see MSU Policy OP 60.324.
