About the role

About Us

Piermont Bank is a boutique specialty commercial bank focused on serving modern businesses with a digital first approach. As the first cloud native bank launched in the United States, Piermont was built on modern infrastructure that allows us to operate with greater flexibility, efficiency, and scalability than traditional banks.

We combine disciplined commercial banking with innovative technology to deliver value added solutions for small and medium sized businesses and our fintech partners. Our team is dedicated to thoughtful risk management, strong client relationships, and building a bank designed for the future of financial services.

The Role

Piermont Bank is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to join our Commercial Banking team, with a primary focus on Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and additional responsibility for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) relationships.

This is a hands-on role for a strong credit professional who enjoys analyzing complex transactions, understanding the story behind the numbers, and partnering closely with Relationship Managers and Credit. The Portfolio Manager will oversee an assigned portfolio, monitor credit performance, complete annual reviews and renewals, and proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of commercial credit, underwriting, or portfolio management experience.
  • Strong CRE underwriting and portfolio management experience required.
  • C&I underwriting, credit analysis, or portfolio management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of CRE lending, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, collateral valuation, and credit risk.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience preparing credit memoranda, annual reviews, renewals, and loan approval packages.
  • Formal credit training and/or equivalent on-the-job commercial credit experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience across multiple CRE asset classes, including multifamily, industrial, retail, office, hospitality, and mixed-use.
  • Experience managing a portfolio that includes both CRE and C&I relationships.
  • Experience with complex or larger commercial transactions.
  • Formal bank credit training.
  • Experience presenting credits to senior credit officers or credit committees.
  • Experience with Salesforce, credit platforms, financial spreading, or portfolio management systems.

The hiring range for this position is $115,000 to $150,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, vision, 401k, and other benefits.
