About the role

About us

The Physiotherapy Service at Cairns Hospital is a large regional physiotherapy service consisting of approximately 76 full-time physiotherapy positions and 9 Allied Health Assistant positions.

The Physiotherapy Service provides a friendly, supportive environment and is responsible for providing high quality services across the continuum of care to client/patient groups both within the CHHHS and for patients from the Cape York and the Torres Strait catchment areas who receive care at Cairns Hospital.

The Physiotherapy Service is committed to providing contemporary, evidence-based practice and provides opportunities to participate in research or project management as they arise. We are a growing and innovative department with a strong research agenda with multiple team members completing PHDs, Research and Masters programs and are supportive of team members who participate in project positions. The Service values a well-trained workforce and supports staff in participating in a range of professional support and development opportunities.

The Physiotherapy Service is well placed to support the CHHHS's aim to progress to a University Teaching Hospital by embracing research, training and alternative and innovative models of care including advanced and extended scope of clinical practice.

We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services.
