About the role

This frontline support role provides essential support enabling the development and delivery of frontline services, programs and outcomes

We're excited to welcome a Pharmacist Senior - Ready for Surgery Team (RfST) to our Pharmacy Department.

This position will be responsible for providing high level pharmaceutical services to surgical pre-admission outpatients as part of the Pharmacy Critical Care and Surgical Services Team. This position is considered a non-rotational position across the broader Pharmacy Department, however internal rotation within the critical care and surgical clinical areas may be implemented in line with operational needs, as allocated by the Pharmacist Advanced Critical Care and Surgical Team Leader (or delegate) in consultation with the Pharmacy Leadership Team.

The common objective of the Pharmacy Service is that patients derive maximum benefit from medications whilst being exposed to minimum risk. This purpose will be achieved by the deployment of a skilled and caring pharmacy workforce.

The position will provide high level pharmaceutical services to the patients of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service in accordance with their needs and the policies and priorities of the Health Service.

The position will ensure the safe, effective, judicious use of medicines across the continuum of care, whilst remaining compliant with relevant regulatory statues and promoting the efficient use of public resources.

Sunshine Coast Health is a values-based organisation. We are committed to the maintenance of a culture in which we treat our colleagues with respect as we do our patients, consumers and the community. We respect, protect and promote human rights in our decision-making and actions.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills, in matters beyond routine practice, using valid and reliable evidence, with infrequent clinical practice supervision.
  • Provide high level clinical advice to diverse stakeholders, including provision of a medication record, medication counselling and a medication management plan where appropriate to the patient's GP, community pharmacy, continuity of care co-ordinators, case managers and Residential Care Facilities.
  • Document clinical activities, incidents and interventions, consistent with the general documentation and reporting requirements of the department.
  • Contribute to the development of practices, procedures, and protocols.

Remuneration value up to $162 376 p.a., comprising salary between $132 689 - $142 315 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4). Applications will remain current for 12 months. Please note: only applications from candidates will be accepted (applications that may result in an agency fee will not be considered).
