About the role

About the Team

CHQ Pharmacy is dedicated to providing and supporting high quality clinical and medication management services to the children and young people of CHQ. The pharmacy service has a staff of approximately 110, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, administrative staff and support staff. The pharmacy team provides services to inpatients, outpatients, hospital in the home, cancer care services, poisons information, aseptic compounding, clinical trials along with safety, quality and governance. The Queensland Poisons Information Service is part of CHQ Pharmacy and provides 24 hour a day emergency service in cases of poisoning.

About the Role

In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

  • Deliver high level clinical pharmacy services within a variety of complex medical caseloads in an acute hospital setting in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, with minimal direct clinical supervision. Services will be predominantly provided to patients admitted to hospital, and may also include provision of services in outpatient pharmacy clinics.
  • Exercise independent judgement and problem solving skills, in matters beyond routine practice, using valid and reliable evidence, with infrequent clinical practice supervision.
  • Provide high level advice and support to the multidisciplinary team, and clients within and external to the Queensland Children's Hospital. This may include virtual support for specialist outreach clinics.
  • Actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing service improvement activities to enhance the delivery of clinical pharmacy services and multidisciplinary care. This will include initiation of research and quality improvement activities, and contribution to development of guidelines, procedures and protocols to support the continuum of care.
  • Guide, mentor and supervise less experienced pharmacy practitioners, support staff, and provide education to work experience or observational pharmacy students.
