Banding: Band 6/7

Location: Luton

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: £24.00–£31.00 per hour

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Paediatric Community Speech and Language Therapist to join a supportive community team in Luton. This role involves working with children and young people within community and school-age caseloads, supporting a range of speech, language, and communication needs.

The successful candidate will independently manage their own caseload while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, child-centred care. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 therapist or a Band 7 clinician looking for a flexible locum opportunity within a community setting.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Independently manage a caseload of children and young people within the community and school-age service.
  • Assess, diagnose, and deliver appropriate intervention plans for children with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to support children’s communication development.
  • Provide training and advice to parents, carers, and education staff to enable ongoing support for children’s language and communication needs.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning and reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Previous experience working within paediatric community or school-age services.
  • Experience managing a paediatric caseload independently.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
