About the role

What your day could look like

As an Operational Services Officer - Cook, you'll play an important role in supporting patients and the wider healthcare team through the delivery of safe, nutritious and enjoyable meals. From preparing food that meets individual dietary needs to maintaining high food safety standards, you'll contribute to a service that helps people feel cared for every day.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Preparing quality meals that support health, wellbeing and positive patient experiences.
  • Ensuring safe food handling practices and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and compliance.
  • Working closely with colleagues to deliver responsive, efficient catering services across the facility.
  • Helping improve kitchen processes, stock management and service outcomes.

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who takes pride in creating meals that make a difference to a patient's day. You enjoy working as part of a team, value quality and consistency, and find satisfaction in knowing your work contributes to the wellbeing of others.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Experience preparing food in a commercial kitchen, hospitality or healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and quality standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and adapt to changing needs.
  • Commitment to delivering reliable, person-centred service with attention to detail.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have a qualification in commercial cookery, hospitality operations or a related field and/or experience preparing meals for people with specialised dietary requirements.

Above all, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health: Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage.
