About the role

The Mechatronics Teams at Agile Robots are looking for a Mechatronics and Hardware Test Engineer (m/f/d). Join our team in Munich, where you will design, implement, and validate mechatronic test scenarios for the development, certification, and quality assurance of our robotic systems, subsystems, and components. We are seeking an experienced and curious, hands-on generalist with a multidisciplinary background who thrives across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering domains.

Responsibilities

  • Test Automation: Plan, design, and automate test setups and fixtures for robot prototypes, subassemblies, and components across the product lifecycle.
  • Test Execution: Run tests, analyze the test data, and report findings to the engineering teams.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and diagnose product defects and quality issues to support corrective actions.
  • Technical Reviews: Work with development, quality, and production teams, and represent testing in technical reviews.
  • Documentation: Create, standardize, and maintain test specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Test Methods: Identify and implement improvements to existing test methods to increase efficiency, coverage, and repeatability.
  • Production Support: Support manufacturing and production teams in troubleshooting and resolving test-related issues.

Essential Skills

  • Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechatronics, robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
  • System Verification: At least three years of industry experience testing, verifying, and validating complex mechatronic or robotic systems.
  • Python Programming: Professional experience writing Python for test automation, using Git-based version control such as GitLab.
  • Sensor Integration: Experience implementing and maintaining sensor applications, such as force and torque, position, or temperature sensors.
  • Industrial Interfaces: Practical experience with Linux environments, including Bash scripting, and with industrial communication protocols and real-time bus systems such as OPC UA or EtherCAT.

Beneficial Skills

  • Hardware Work: Experience with CAD for mechanical design, such as SolidWorks, or PCB layout tools, such as Altium, and practical workshop skills such as soldering, harness wiring, mechanical assembly, and prototyping.
  • Safety Standards: Experience with certification and functional safety standards, such as ISO 10218, ISO 13849, or IEC 60204.
  • Factory Automation: Background in industrial robotics or factory automation, including PLC programming and integration, for example with TwinCAT or Beckhoff.
  • Real-Time Programming: Familiarity with C++ and MATLAB/Simulink for real-time applications.
  • Quality Tools: Familiarity with requirements and quality management tools such as Jama or SAP.
  • German Language: German language proficiency.
  • Driving License: Valid Class B driving license or equivalent.
