About the role

About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

Base is hiring a Material Planner to make sure our factories have the right parts at the right time. You'll own material planning for key components and assemblies, turn production plans and engineering changes into supply plans, and hold suppliers accountable for delivery. You'll also build the planning processes and tools we need as we scale. You'll work closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, quality, and finance. We want someone who knows supply chain fundamentals and wants to improve how planning works, not just run the current process.

What You'll Do

  • Own material planning for assigned components and assemblies across production, engineering builds, and ramps.
  • Turn production demand into supply plans in our ERP, balancing service levels, inventory, and cost.
  • Set and maintain planning parameters and master data so the system reflects real supplier capabilities.
  • Get materials ready for engineering changes, new parts, and product transitions while keeping obsolescence low.
  • Report clear-to-build status, material coverage, and run-out risk, and run scenarios for production and leadership.
  • Size safety stock and order quantities based on data.
  • Be the day-to-day contact for assigned suppliers: drive on-time delivery, resolve shortages, and escalate when needed.
  • Support supplier ramps for new programs and production phases.
  • Improve planning processes, tools, and reporting as we add factories and products.

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations, finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years in material planning, supply chain, or manufacturing at a hardware or industrial company.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems in discrete manufacturing, including BOMs, part lifecycles, and procure-to-pay.
  • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to make clear calls under tight timelines.
  • A track record of working across teams and holding suppliers to their commitments.
  • Clear, direct written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with manufacturing ERP and MES systems.
  • Experience using AI or agentic tools to build and speed up planning workflows and analyses.
  • Experience with electromechanical assemblies that mix off-the-shelf and custom parts, including assemblies built by contract manufacturers.

About the Team

Our supply chain team sources components, runs manufacturing operations, and builds the supplier partnerships we need to make the lowest-cost, highest-quality home batteries at scale. Homeowners across the country rely on Base for whole-home backup and lower electricity bills. Our network of home batteries also helps keep the grid stable as demand climbs from AI, electrification, and extreme weather. We build in-house and expand at a speed and cost incumbents can't match, and this team makes that possible.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
