About the role

About Jetson

Jetson is on a mission to accelerate the transition of 100 million homes across North America away from fossil fuels toward sustainable energy use. We believe in a future that is 100% electric and 100% better.

Homes are one of the largest sources of carbon emissions, yet adoption of solutions like heat pumps remains slow due to cost and complexity. Jetson is solving this by building the first fully vertically integrated home electrification company — making clean energy simple, transparent, and affordable.

We rely heavily on technology, automation, and data to scale this impact. At Jetson, we value people who are excellent at their craft, curious about new tools (including AI), and motivated to continuously improve how work gets done.

The Opportunity

Ready to do the most meaningful electrical work of your career? At Jetson, we're on a mission to get every home off gas — and Columbia is one of the best places in the country to make that happen. As one of our first boots on the ground in Maryland, you won't just be running wire: you'll be helping us build the playbook. You'll work alongside a tight-knit install team to remove gas furnaces, bring in electric heat pump systems, and collaborate directly with our engineering team to sharpen our process and push our product forward. If you're the kind of electrician who takes pride in clean work, is hands on, loves solving problems in the field, and wants to be part of something bigger than a service call — this is your seat at the table.

What You Will Do

  • Install all electrical infrastructure required to support heat pump systems — done right, on every job
  • Perform load calculations and design code-compliant solutions that actually work in the real world
  • Upgrade main electrical panels as needed, including smart panels, splitters, and sub-panel configurations
  • Pull permits and own the inspection process end-to-end across MD jurisdictions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on-site and perform necessary repairs with speed and precision
  • Coordinate with HVAC install crews and collaborate across trade lines to keep jobs moving efficiently
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and flag issues before they become problems
  • Test electrical systems for functionality, performance, and code compliance
  • Spot recurring inefficiencies in the install process and bring solutions to the team
  • Maintain strict compliance with NEC and local electrical codes

What You Bring

  • Master Electrician license with the ability to pull permits across Maryland jurisdictions
  • Deep residential install experience, including service upgrades, panel work, and large load additions (heat pumps, EV chargers, etc.)
  • Fluency in modern panel technology — smart panels (Span, Leviton, Schneider, etc.), splitters, and sub-panel configurations
  • Ability to perform accurate load calculations using standard and optional methods
  • Comfort working in older homes and navigating the surprises that come with legacy wiring
  • Experience coordinating with HVAC crews or working on multi-trade jobs
  • Solid troubleshooting instincts — you diagnose problems methodically and fix them cleanly
  • Physical stamina for hands-on residential install work
  • Valid driver's license
  • Follows OSHA Electrical Standard
  • Follows the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) standard
  • Prior experience with heat pump or HVAC-related electrical installs (preferred)
  • Familiarity with cold-climate heat pump systems (preferred)
  • Experience on gas-to-electric conversion projects (preferred)
  • Actively staying current on electrification codes and equipment trends (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $37 - $51 per hour (Plus $1000/monthly Stipend for Permit Holding)

Benefits

  • Dental Care, Vision Care & Life Insurance premiums fully paid by Jetson
  • Health Insurance premium 85% paid by Jetson
  • Education Support
  • Parental Leave Top Up
  • Tools Provided
  • Uniform Provided
  • Lunch Provided
  • 401k program
