About the role

About us

The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) plays an important role in Queensland's integrity framework and is an independent statutory body that reports to Parliament. We have statutory functions and powers under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) to uphold greater and easier access to information held by government agencies, assisting agencies to understand their obligations under the RTI and IP Acts, and use our regulatory powers to improve compliance.

Why join the OIC?

  • An opportunity to join a high-performing organisation, committed to maintaining a vital role in upholding transparency and integrity.
  • A supportive and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and fosters team collaboration and success.
  • Flexible work arrangements, working collaboratively with our employees to balance flexibility with in-office attendance to meet operational requirements.

About the Role

The Manager, Right to Information leads a small team delivering independent external reviews of information access decisions and exercises delegated statutory functions on behalf of the Information Commissioner. The role also drives team performance, stakeholder engagement, risk management and continuous improvement to support best practice right to information across the public sector.

How to Apply

Please review the Role Description, and provide the following information in your application:

  • A two-page statement addressing the responsibilities, requirements and core competencies of the role, and your motivation to join OIC.
  • Your current CV or resume (maximum three pages is recommended),
  • Details of two referees who have a thorough knowledge of your capabilities, work performance and conduct within the previous two years. It is preferable to include your current or immediate past supervisor.

Only those persons eligible to work in Australia may be employed by the OIC. Prospective employees will be required to provide proof of identity and documentary evidence of their right to work in Australia.
