  • Delivering high level input and guidance into the Boating Infrastructure Sub-Program, including forward planning and demand forecasting, regulatory matters, relevant legislative changes, and development of policy responses, ensuring alignment with program delivery and asset lifecycle functions.
  • Leading the prioritisation and planning of new and upgraded boating infrastructure and development of the forward works program, including management of consultants and stakeholder engagement activities, with delivery sequencing and execution managed through program delivery functions.

We value diverse experiences and perspectives and seek applicants who bring both technical expertise and a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear, concise advice, briefs, and reports for executives and government stakeholders.
  • A strategic and analytical approach to infrastructure planning, with the ability to balance long-term policy goals with operational delivery.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal history check due to access to sensitive information.

Requirements of the role

  • Proven ability to lead complex infrastructure programs, preferably in a public sector or regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to influence and engage with regional teams, senior management, and external stakeholders planning and prioritisation of boating infrastructure and AtoNs.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement, standardisation, and innovation across infrastructure planning, governance and asset management practice.
  • Experience in strategic planning, policy development, and the management of government-funded capital works or maintenance programs is highly desirable.

Some of the additional benefits this opportunity offers include

  • Work/life balance, including 'flex time' and flexible work arrangements and a working from home option.
