This is a hands-on role for someone with strong practical maintenance experience within a hotel or hospitality environment. The successful candidate will be confident working independently, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and taking ownership of maintenance tasks through to completion.

You will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and wider maintenance team, providing technical and operational support across the day-to-day running of the building.

The role requires someone who understands the demands of a busy hotel and members' club environment and who is comfortable working across guest rooms, restaurants, kitchens, bars, offices, public areas and technical spaces.

Main responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance throughout the building.
  • Diagnose technical faults and carry out appropriate first-line repairs.
  • Carry out general repairs across plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical work and general building maintenance.
  • Support the maintenance of mechanical equipment, pumps, ventilation and heating/cooling systems.
  • Carry out regular inspections of plant rooms, guest areas and back-of-house spaces.
  • Identify developing or recurring faults and report recommended solutions.
  • Take ownership of assigned maintenance tasks from initial report through to completion.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager with planned preventative maintenance and follow-up actions.
  • Assist with the coordination of specialist contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure contractor works are completed correctly and identify any outstanding issues.
  • Support with technical information, quotations and preparation for maintenance works and small projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, service reports and outstanding actions.
  • Assist with room preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Support maintenance relating to fire safety systems, water systems, access control and other building services where appropriate.
  • Monitor maintenance materials, spare parts and consumables and report when stock needs replenishment.
  • Respond professionally and efficiently to urgent technical issues.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Operations, F&B, Security and other departments to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and safety at all times.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety, fire safety and emergency procedures.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous maintenance experience within a hotel or hospitality environment is essential.
  • Strong practical experience in general building maintenance.
  • Experience with plumbing, carpentry and basic electrical fault-finding.
  • Knowledge or practical experience of HVAC, ventilation and heating/cooling systems would be a strong advantage.
  • Able to troubleshoot technical issues and determine the appropriate next steps.
  • Comfortable recognising when specialist contractor support is required.
  • Able to read technical manuals, service reports and basic technical drawings where required.
  • Experience working with external contractors and service companies.
  • Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
  • Comfortable working in a busy, guest-facing operational environment.
  • Able to manage multiple maintenance priorities and work independently.
  • Reliable, organised and able to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Strong spoken English and good communication skills.
  • Professional when dealing with guests, colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends when equired.
