At Adelaide University, we create the opportunities you need to achieve your ambitions – because when you thrive, we thrive.

We are seeking two passionate, collaborative and student-focused Lecturers to join our Common Core team and contribute to the delivery of our six interdisciplinary courses in 2027.

Working closely with Course Coordinators, Senior Lecturers and our broader Teaching Teams, our Lecturers play an important role in creating engaging, inclusive and transformative learning experiences that support student success.

Work that matters

The Common Core is a defining feature of Adelaide University's curriculum architecture and a flagship component of our commitment to transformative education.

Embedded within every year of undergraduate study, the Common Core brings together students from across the University to explore contemporary issues, engage with diverse perspectives, and develop the capabilities needed to thrive in professional, civic and global contexts.

The Common Core is an industry-informed, interdisciplinary learning experience that invests in the human qualities most valued by employers and communities alike: curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, self-leadership and collaboration.

Students select a Common Core course from one of six knowledge areas, enabling them to broaden their perspectives and build capabilities that complement their chosen degree.

Our courses bring together students from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to explore complex contemporary challenges through collaborative, activity-based learning. Students engage with carefully curated learning materials before participating in two-hour Commons Workshops designed to encourage inquiry, discussion, reflection and the application of new ideas.

Common Core courses use a Non-Graded Pass model to create a learning environment focused on curiosity, exploration and growth. Students are encouraged to take intellectual risks, engage with diverse perspectives and develop their capabilities through carefully scaffolded learning experiences and formative feedback.

The Common Core team is responsible for delivering this flagship initiative. This is a dynamic and exciting time for this initiative, and as such we are looking to appoint folk who are:

  • Student-oriented
  • 'Builders'/co-creators
  • Curious/flexible/agile/resourceful
