Department

Asset Management and Document Services within the Division of Administration and Finance provide efficient, effective, and seamless management of university assets and documents while ensuring accountability, accessibility, and reliable support for the campus community. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join the Asset Management and Document Services Office as a Laborer. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the supervision of the Director of Asset Management and Document Services, the Laborer performs general manual labor in support of asset management, surplus, and disposition activities. Responsibilities include assisting with equipment moves and relocations; operating powered and non-powered material-handling equipment and delivery trucks; and collecting, sorting, organizing, and moving furniture, machinery, assets, and other equipment.

The Laborer moves furniture within and between offices and supports relocations associated with the university’s recycling and reuse program. The position also assists with the surplus sales process by photographing and posting items for sale, scheduling pickups, and assisting customers during item pickup.

The Laborer performs duties within an assigned work area and as needed, at various locations across campus, including storage areas and campus-wide pickup and drop-off sites. The position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of storage areas and designated pickup and drop-off locations. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; perform regular strenuous manual labor; and safely move heavy items in excess of fifty pounds.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; basic computer skills in a work environment; experience operating powered and non-powered material-handling equipment; experience assisting with furniture moves, equipment relocations, surplus property, or recycling and reuse programs; strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, customers, and campus departments.

On September 19, 2025, a $100,000 Fee for H-1B employment petitions was established by the "Presidential Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers.” Due to a pending lawsuit and interim federal court decision, the Fee is currently unenforceable and cannot be charged. As a result, for tenure-track faculty positions, Cal State Fullerton is currently able to consider sponsoring applicants for H-1B employment. However, a future court decision or governmental action could change the Fee’s status. For that reason, whether Cal State Fullerton is able and willing to serve as a sponsor will depend on the actual status of the Fee at the time an eligible candidate is selected. As previously noted, Cal State Fullerton will not sponsor applicants for H-1B employment who are subject to the Fee.
