About the role

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a talented Litigation Associate with at least 4 years of litigation experience to join its nationally recognized Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with experience in complex contractual disputes to work on sophisticated policyholder-side insurance coverage matters, coverage disputes, complex recovery matters, and commercial litigation. This role offers substantial responsibility, meaningful client contact, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners in a collaborative environment.

  • Advise clients on insurance recovery and litigation strategy across a broad range of coverage issues
  • Support all phases of litigation, including factual development, discovery, motion practice, and hearing or trial preparation
  • Analyze and interpret complex commercial insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage provisions
  • Draft coverage analyses, pleadings, motions, briefs, and substantive legal memoranda
  • Assist clients in securing defense and indemnity coverage for third-party liability claims and other significant losses

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in complex commercial litigation.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • High degree of professionalism, initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Admission to the applicable state bar and in good standing, or ability to obtain admission promptly
  • Federal judicial clerkship experience is a plus, but not required
