About the role

About BMD

BMD is Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business. As the largest privately owned civil contractor in Australia, BMD is at the forefront of excellence, with a growing international footprint extending to the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

Driven by a purpose of powering futures and creating enduring legacies, we deliver complex infrastructure solutions that connect and transform communities. For over 45 years, our diverse portfolio of projects and roles provides exceptional opportunities for our people to grow and make a lasting impact. As part of our team, you’ll help deliver challenging projects, supported by leadership within an inclusive people-first culture.

Who we’re looking for

As an experienced HSE Manager, you will assist our project teams on site, in delivering civil infrastructure projects.

Getting our people home safely to their families every day is our top priority and your role is vital in influencing Project Managers and other key project stakeholders to achieve health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) excellence. You will be a natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills and strong technical expertise to:

  • steer the development and implementation of HSEQ standards that align with compliance and due diligence requirements
  • undertake audits and inspections
  • work closely with senior management to prepare reports
  • motivate and educate BMD employees to champion best practice use of our systems
  • develop work method statements, project plans and inspection and test plans
  • implement system changes and improvements to demonstrate continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with

  • a qualification in work health and safety (minimum of Certificate IV)
  • knowledge of current legislation, standards and industry requirements.
  • demonstrate experience in a HSE Management role on civil infrastructure projects
  • open to frequent travel to Victoria to support local project teams

You may also have the following additional desirable skills:

  • qualifications in training and assessment

Benefits

We believe our people do their best work when they feel supported — personally and professionally. That’s why we offer benefits that go beyond the basics:

  • grow your career with specialised learning and development programs
  • be recognised at our annual employee awards event and through our Thrive reward and recognition platform
  • prioritise wellbeing with mental health support and discounted gym access
  • support your family with paid parental leave for primary and secondary carers and flexible work arrangements available
  • access perks with novated leasing, specialised Power Perks and discounts with hundreds of retailers.

Diversity and inclusion

We recognise that we are strengthened by diversity, and we embrace differences as an equal opportunity employer providing a flexible and inclusive workplace.

So, join our team, be yourself and help us power futures and create legacies.

We’re a purpose and values-led business guided by our values of family, empowered, collaborative and driven. For further details on what makes BMD unique, head to https://www.bmdgroup.global/careers
