About the role

About us

We are a high-frequency proprietary trading firm competing in the most demanding arenas in global markets - where the difference between a winning and losing strategy is measured in nanoseconds.

Founded in 2011 by two IIT Delhi computer scientists and headquartered in Gurugram, NKSR has grown into one of India’s leading HFT firms: a top-performing member on NSE across equity and index derivatives, a Leading Member in MCX Options, and now trading across NSE, BSE, MCX and NSE-IX with international reach through our Singapore entity.

Everything we trade on, we built. Our ultra-low latency stack, our real-time risk engine, our petabyte-scale research infrastructure and millions of compute cores are all in-house; which means the 100+ IITians and exceptional engineers here own their systems end to end.

Role overview

As our HR Business Partner, you will be the people partner to our trading, quant research and technology leaders across the full employee lifecycle. We stay deliberately lean, so much of our people infrastructure is still being built: you will create it, not maintain it. This is a hands-on role for someone who can build credibility with senior leadership and some of the sharpest technologists in the industry.

It is a role with real room to grow: as the firm scales, we expect the right person to grow into leading our people function.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic business partnering
  • Partner with founders and desk/team leads on org design, team structure, succession and workforce planning.
  • Translate business priorities, such as new desks, asset classes or the Singapore expansion, into clear people plans and hiring roadmaps.
  • Use people data (attrition, engagement, compensation, hiring funnel) to surface risks early and recommend action.
  • Talent acquisition and campus programmes
  • Partner with the recruitment team on lateral and campus hiring strategy, including campus selection PPO conversion and FTE offer planning.
  • Oversee intern and new-graduate experience from offer to joining, keeping pre-joining engagement strong.
  • Shape employer branding events such as hackathons, quant competitions and campus talks.
  • Performance, compensation and rewards
  • Run the performance review cycle end to end, including calibration that is fair and rigorous for both individual-contributor and lead roles.
  • Support leadership on compensation benchmarking, bonus planning and retention plans in a market where top talent is highly sought after.
  • Retention, engagement and culture
  • Own retention of critical talent through stay conversations, career pathing and early-warning signals.
  • Protect our flat, high-trust, low-bureaucracy culture as the firm grows.
  • Drive onboarding, mentorship and learning programmes that help new joiners become productive quickly.
  • Employee relations, policy and compliance
  • Handle employee relations matters with sound judgement, discretion and speed.
  • Keep HR policies, confidentiality, IP and garden-leave obligations current and compliant with Indian labour law, and support Singapore requirements as that team grows.
  • Manage exits thoughtfully, including exit insights and protection of intellectual property.
  • HR operations and systems
  • Improve HR processes and tooling, so they stay simple, accurate and scalable.
  • Produce clear people dashboards and reports for leadership.
  • AI and automation
  • Use AI tools extensively in day-to-day HR work, such as drafting policies, screening and summarising candidate profiles, analysing engagement feedback and preparing leadership reports.
  • Automate repetitive HR workflows (onboarding, offer letters, leave and approvals, reminders, reporting) using HRIS features, no-code tools and AI assistants, including AI-powered self-service such as an HR
  • FAQ assistant for policies and benefits.
  • Set clear guidelines for responsible AI use in HR, covering data privacy, confidentiality and fairness in hiring decisions.

What we are looking for

  • Experience helping build or improve HR policies, processes and programmes, with outcomes you can point to (for example on attrition, hiring speed or engagement).
  • 3 - 6 years of HR experience, including close partnership with tech, engineering or product teams.
  • Experience at a fast-growing tech, fintech, startup or trading firm, ideally through a phase of rapid scaling.
  • Hands-on, extensive use of AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) and automation in HR work, with examples of processes you have automated or made faster.
  • Hands-on experience with performance cycles, compensation reviews and retention of high-value talent.
  • Working knowledge of Indian labour law and employee relations.
  • Exceptional discretion with confidential information, plus clear, direct communication.

Who thrives here

Someone who is credible with highly analytical people, comfortable with ambiguity, and happy to roll up their sleeves. You prefer a smart, simple solution over a heavy policy, and you can push back respectfully when it matters. You want to grow fast and take on more ownership over time.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary package.
  • A dynamic, high-performance, and collaborative work environment.
  • Strong focus on career growth and development.
  • Catered breakfast and lunch.
  • Medical Insurance and sponsored gym membership.
  • Quarterly team parties and annual domestic trip.

NK Securities Research is an equal opportunity employer. We hire on merit and welcome applicants of every background, gender, religion, disability status and orientation.
