Croí Health is a mission-driven, non-profit organization providing home health, palliative, hospice, and wellness services across 27 communities, from Milton to Plymouth. Consistently earning five-star CMS ratings, we lead with innovation, quality, and heart.

Join us and make a difference every day—because here, caring is more than what we do, it’s who we are.

What will you be doing

We are looking for an experienced, talented, and compassionate Chef to join our team at our Hospice House in Hingham. The Hospice House Chef is responsible for high-quality meal planning and food services for hospice patients, including individualized menus, purchasing within budget, safe food preparation, weekend meal readiness, volunteer collaboration, and kitchen sanitation. Works closely with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary Hospice House team.

Compensation: $20 - $27/hr. Based on experience

What we’re looking for in you

  • Plan and prepare appetizing weekday meals, adapting to patient preferences and dietary instructions communicated by the clinical team.
  • Meet with patients and families when appropriate to learn food preferences, cultural traditions, and comfort-food requests.
  • Create weekly menus based on patient needs, anticipated census, and available resources.
  • Shop for groceries, maintain inventory, track spending against the approved food budget, and minimize waste.
  • Prepare all planned weekend meals by Friday; portion, label, date, refrigerate or freeze safely, and provide clear reheating and serving instructions.
  • Ensure adequate snacks, beverages, and supplies are stocked for weekend patient needs.
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator to include trained volunteers in appropriate meal preparation, service, and kitchen support activities.
  • Follow documented cleaning, sanitizing, food storage, temperature monitoring, and food safety protocols; maintain required logs.
  • Maintain a sanitary work environment via cleaning dishes and cooking utensils.
  • Communicate special diets, meal plans, and changes in patient preferences to designated Hospice House staff.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with clinical, support, and volunteer teams; accommodate special requests when feasible.
  • Coordinate food service coverage plans for holidays, vacations, and other absences.

What we're looking for in you?

  • 3+ years of experience in cooking, meal planning, and professional kitchen operations required; prior experience in healthcare, hospitality, or residential care environments is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and temperature-monitoring protocols. Exceptional organization and interpersonal communication skills, paired with a deeply compassionate, patient-first approach to end-of-life care.
  • Current ServSafe Certification Preferred.

What's in it for you?

  • Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits
  • Company paid Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability
  • Generous Paid Time Off Package
  • 401 (k) match program
  • Tuition Reimbursement and Scholarship Program
  • Mileage Reimbursement (in field positions only)
