About the role

About Us

Nanango State High School is an inclusive and connected learning community of approximately 500 students from Year 7 to Year 12, proudly serving families across the South Burnett. Guided by our commitment to "Every student achieving their full potential," we foster a culture of high expectations, belonging and opportunity, underpinned by our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Safety and Effort.

Our improvement agenda prioritises strengthening student attendance and engagement, improving academic achievement, and supporting successful exit outcomes. We are committed to quality teaching and learning, evidence-informed decision-making and building the capability of staff to improve outcomes for every student.

About the Role

As a school with strong community connections and a commitment to continuous improvement, we are looking for a leader who will contribute to a positive professional culture, build productive partnerships and work collaboratively with staff, students, families and community partners to ensure every student is known, valued, supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead the school department in developing and implementing a shared educational vision that promotes quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just and inclusive practices while maintaining high standards of performance, accountability and achievement for students and staff.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, continuous professional development and reflective leadership.
  • Build strong partnerships with students, parents, government agencies and community groups to support student learning and strengthen school-community relationships.
  • Provide strategic, future-focused leadership by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and effectively managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve departmental goals.

Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.

How to apply

  • Please submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant work history); and
  • A 2-page response to the 'How you will be assessed' section of the attached role description.

We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.

Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.

Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.
