About the role

Head of Business Operations

About Axion

Axion builds AI that helps the world's leading manufacturers in automotive, aerospace, medical devices, and industrial equipment detect, investigate, and resolve product quality and safety issues before they escalate. Our platform turns fragmented field, warranty, and manufacturing data into engineering intelligence that prevents failures and reduces warranty spend.

We're about 100 people and growing fast, backed by roughly $75M from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Salesforce Ventures, and strategic investors Schneider Electric, Boeing, and Raytheon.

The Role

As we approach Series C, the way we plan and operate needs to scale with us. Today that work is spread across the exec team. We're hiring someone to own Axion's coordination engine: how the company sets goals, measures progress, and stays aligned.

This is our first BizOps hire. You'll report to the CEO and work closely with the Head of Finance/Ops and the exec team. It's a build-and-run role: you'll stand up the function while it's already carrying live planning cycles.

What You'll Own

  • Lead the company through annual strategic planning, translating the CEO’s strategy to quarterly goals for each department
  • Orchestrate company-wide annual and quarterly planning, and re-plan when the business shifts
  • Own the operating cadence: monthly and quarterly business reviews, the annual review, and company town halls
  • Make sure every team has clear metrics, initiatives, and owners, including functions without a revenue number
  • Partner with Engineering and Product to define metrics that don't have standard definitions, and build the systems and dashboards to track them
  • Surface what's off track early, with a clear read on why
  • Find gaps in the plan and lead cross-functional special projects to close them
  • Partner with the CEO and Head of Finance & Operations on board reporting
  • You’ll also think about what BizOps looks like in the age of AI & agents

Note: Candidates with RevOps experience can also oversee RevOps, but if the candidate does not have RevOps experience they will start with just BizOps

Room to Grow

This role can expand into other dimensions as the company scales, such as RevOps, Strategy, or other departments.

The challenges you’ll solve

  • In the agentic era, we have to adapt. As new frontier model capabilities come out, we’ll need a way to be dynamic and adapt plans to new fact sets
  • Leaders are busy. Planning and management compete with everything else on their plate, and you'll need to get their time anyway.
  • Cadence takes discipline. Regular reviews only work if they actually happen, every time, even when people want to skip them.
  • Consistency beats novelty. The value comes from tracking the same metrics the same way over time, not reinventing the dashboard each quarter.

What We're Looking For

  • 5 to 8+ years in BizOps, strategy and operations, or Chief of Staff roles, ideally at a high-growth B2B company
  • You've built a planning and review cadence from scratch, not inherited one
  • You're strongly analytical (SQL, spreadsheets, BI tools) and ask "can AI do this?" before adding process or headcount
  • You write clearly and can turn messy inputs into board-ready material

Nice to Have

  • RevOps or Sales Ops experience
  • Series B/C experience. You've been at a company as it scaled through those stages.
  • Domain background. Enterprise SaaS, industrial, or technical B2B.
