About the role
At Mentee Robotics, we are redefining humanoid automation with an AI-first approach - combining perception, reasoning, and dexterous manipulation into fully autonomous systems that continuously learn and improve. We offer an exceptional opportunity to participate in building next-generation commercial humanoid robots from 0 to 1, alongside competitive compensation and an international engineering environment. We are expanding with a new robotics Engineering Center in China, working hand-in-hand with our engineering teams in headquarters. Its mission: to rapidly develop our next-generation full-size humanoid platform and bring it to production.
We are looking for a Hardware Development Engineer to lead the hardware development of a bipedal humanoid robot’s full-body system, including but not limited to compute-domain hardware, power hardware, motion-control hardware, and the hardware of each module. You will also maintain the hardware, troubleshoot hardware issues, and work with colleagues in other disciplines to complete bench debugging and full-system commissioning. The end goal is to own the hardware of the mass-production robot and carry it through development and maintenance across the entire product lifecycle.
Who you are
- You have a deep understanding of hardware development and strong hands-on experience, along with a genuine passion for humanoid robots.
- You have a clear grasp of how the major hardware modules work, and a solid understanding of the system as a whole.
- You have solid experience with mass production and fault handling, and you can diagnose problems hands-on and fix and optimize hardware issues.
Responsibilities
- Own hardware solution design, component selection, schematic design, and PCB design for the robot.
- Independently design and debug in-house hardware, including the domain controller board and power board.
- Lead hardware bring-up, functional verification, and fault isolation.
- Own hardware reliability, EMC, thermal design, and analysis of mass-production issues.
- Participate in product requirements analysis and design reviews, and continuously improve reliability and stability.
Requirements
- Full-time bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, electrical engineering, automation, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Familiar with analog circuits, digital circuits, power circuits, and common communication circuits.
- Able to independently complete schematic design and PCB layout, and able to review PCB designs.
- Familiar with common electronic test instruments.
- Familiar with interfaces including STM32, I2C, SPI, UART, EtherCAT, CAN, CAN FD, and RS485.
- Familiar with design tools such as Altium Designer and Cadence.
Nice to Have
- Robot development experience.
- Experience with EMC, reliability testing, and mass-production introduction
